A rich pleasure

Seen this movie before. It's a brilliant 'non-musical' version of the 'King & I'. This film is banned here in Thailand, 🇹🇭 ...... the original was deemed by the Thai Government to put the Kjng, (Rama 4), in a bad light???But I'm able to buy via my Amazon Prime.🙏🙏🙏My Thai girlfriend loves the movie to!!! Now she's seen it & learnt about her King, (Rama) 4, & how he started to bring Siam, (now Thailand) into the modern era.👍🇹🇭😎

This is one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen. Anna and the King of Siam is sumptuously staged. The sets, the scenery and the costumes are amazing and a joy to the eye. Jodie Foster and Chow Yun-Fat played their parts with great finesse and you could see their was a definite repore between the two actors. I love the musical The King and I (Yul Brynner was outstanding in it) but his was a much more gentle portrayal of Anna and the King . In parts it was very emotional. The final scene between the King and Anna was beautifully done and the complimented by the dialogue given by the heir prince. I would highly recommend this film.

Anna & The King is as good if not better slightly than the old classic The king and I Film... I love bothe it is Romantic & Action in parts and breath taking with interesting way showing old cultures are different but not so different in Love xXx

Just a wonderfully produced, well acted and absolutely stunning film. Colourful, meaningful and just brilliantly observed film .

The story behind "Anna And The King" is the true story of Anna Leonowens and the King of Siam. This was told musically by Rodgers and Hammerstein in the musical "The King And I" but this film shows the story more reallistically. We are taken into the intricacies of the court and the attempts by the King's brother to assasinate him and take over the kingdom - events which for obvious reasons was not dealt with by the musical. This is an enjoyable film which great scenery and action and top class acting. Highly recommended.
