Value for money, old school reel.
After more than 2 years of use, i serviced this reel. All the components inside seems holding pretty strong, no corrosion found. Easy to service and after service reel like a new one again. Very satisfied with what I paid for.

I like the light weight of the reel and the speed ...
I like the light weight of the reel and the speed and ease of retrieve. After I used the reel for a while I took it apart to check the inside. I found the factory lube job lacking so I applied reel grease and reassembled the reel. Good thing that I did it when I did because I found the inside of the reel to be clean, no corrosion. Be very careful when reassembling the reel because stripping the threads in the graphite is very easy to do.

Not Shimano quality
Broke after the sixth time I used it. Level line gets struck on the left side. I clean my reels after every trip. Very disappointed with this reel.

Not quite what I expected
The reel is the TR100 modified to a lever drag configuration utilizing the TR100 drag. I was hoping for the larger drag typically associated with a lever drag reel. That being said it is a great reel that I expect to last almost 20 years like the standard TR100s I own.

Just what I Needed
Great reel for my needs. Have replaced other set ups with this reel. I use lead core line for trolling for big trout and I love the drag settings on the reels.

Open box item delivered
The Shimano Charter 1000 reel came with the box already opened and I see oil stain inside. Obviously this is not a new item.I returned it thinking I do not want a returned item in case the reel is defective and returned.

Good reel for the price
Seems well built. Have no idea on longevity but have used it several times to reel in rockfish on umbrella rig with no problem
