The board arrived in a week. It is a maple plywood foundation with 1/4” thick Acacia hardwood framework glued to the plywood with 1/16” to 1/8” thick Acacia and Boxwood squares on top, and is the board is a lighter color than in my pictures. The board thickness measured about 3/4” thick. The squares measured 1.378” not 1.5”, must have been made as 35 mm squares. The finish was smooth, but not a glass feel. The board was completely flat with rounded edges. My 3” King with a 3.75” base filed the square which is why I measured the King Base and squares with an Engineering English and Metric scale. India is under the metric system and all chess boards made in India are made using the metric system, not the English measuring system. I therefore purchased a new chess piece set with a 3” King with a 1.1” base. I still recommend the board considering the above facts. The finish is polished with most likely 320 grit sandpaper, no lacquer. The felt on the back of the board came off revealing a plywood back, so the Acacia wood is a molding. So the acacia and boxwood squares are glued to the plywood base. I refinished with 6 coats of polyurethane after stenciling files letters and rank numbers on the border area. polished with 320, 600, 1000, 3000, and 5000 grit wet sandpaper for clear glass finish. I removed the old felt that was not sticking on the back of the plywood and Acadia Wood Frame with new brown felt, but first lightly sanded smooth and added 2 coats of polyurethane so the felt would adhere better and it worked.

Was not sure what to expect. I ordered for my son to be his first "nice" board (15"x15")... Very pleased. It arrived 2 wks early and was very well packaged. I can't believe this board only costs $55. I have some $300+ chess boards & pieces and this is every bit as nice. No negatives. Very impressed. I would most definitely not hesitate to buy again.

Great product

I wasn't quite sure what I was expecting from this purchase, but this wasn't it. The board was beautifully wrapped and packaged, with a nice cardboard box, guaranteed not to cause any trauma during delivery. It was honestly larger than I had thought it would be, reassuringly heavy, with a solid feel, and a matte finish. While there are no ABC-123 markings, the playing surface is nicely done, with squares roughly 4 cm on a side, a border on all sides, and rounded edges. There is a felt bottom as usual. It's certainly something you can keep for years, or give as a gift. Definitely recommended.

色が写真と全然違う。木の質感を感じさせるような、温かみのあるブラウンなんかでは全くなく、気の抜けたような薄いダークブラウン、サイズを１インチ間違えて自己都合で返品にしたら手数料４５００円もとられた。商品説明不備を返品理由にしなかったことを激しく、後悔した。なお、１インチ大きいサイズも仕方なく購入したが、色はやっぱり同じダークブラウン。ま、たかだか１万円のボードだからこんなものとあきらめてはいるが、写真を信じてはいけません。
