RED DIRT - MOVIE [DVD] [1999]

A memorable movie which I am looking forward to watching for a second time. I ordered because I am fascinated by Walton Goggins acting style and wanted to see more. He is mesmerizing in The Shield and Justified and I can now see that he started out that way. He is a powerful presence on screen and while this is not a perfect movie, it breaks away from so many cliches that it becomes classic. It is sexually charged but without in your face sex scenes. It makes you think afterwards about what went on and why and the conclusion is that this is real life. There is no formulaic happy ending or even a sad one. We just don't know. We live and learn. The only performance I found distracting was Karen Black and even this improved as the character recovered sanity so I can see the point of the OTT acting. A bit slow moving in parts but have patience and enjoy the atmosphere build and then leave you frustrated at the end. That's life isn't it and its never over til it's over!
