Does not work
Spent 10 hours putting this truck together. Tried to charge the truck in a variety of ways. They are doing nothing to help with a solution. Just return it. Child is very upset.

a brick kit that earns the rc label
There are brick RC kits that simply add a motor and some simple axel gearing to a generic chassis design, and then there are RC kits that integrate things like a suspension, multi-drive motoring, and a design that can handle some minor collisions. This product is the latter. I was skeptical as to how good it would turn out because the price point that was surprisingly low considering what all is included. But all things considered the kit ended up being a success. It had a couple of finger busting spots like most technic kits do but nothing prohibiting assembly or leaving the finished product structurally unstable.Assembly was kinda like how real cars are made; a frame is laid, supports go up, then body paneling and so on. Like I mentioned a few spots hurt my fingers but that's altbrick technic for ya. I thought a lot of the subassembly design was really effective in how it managed space and strength. Being a larger kit its nice to get to work with larger assemblies not only for relief on my fingers but because the mechanics stand out and I get a better feeling for what this piece is going to be doing.I didn't use the app because I'd just never want to drive an RC car by touch like that, it feels foreign to me, so no comment on that. The controller is on the small side and while it feels as simple as it looks I wouldn't call it cheap. Don't expect granular motion control, you're basically toggling switches and I noticed a slight input lag but it was inconsistent. As far as the battery goes this is one area that reminds me this is a brick kit with an RC feature, not an categorical RC vehicle. Four drives on a small cap battery doesn't give much operating time even before you add on gearing for each drive, higher friction type wheels, and how you drive it. Point is don't expect lengthy drive times per charge. In the product marketing there is a mention of how this vehicle could allegedly handle off-road conditions like sand and snow. I'm not saying it cant, because I didn't try it, but rather that I don't intend to try because nothing about the motors suggests they're suitable for that. The vehicle probably would handle the terrain as far as mobility goes, but I'm just not confident it would endure the experience.

Really good RC set with very interesting movement.
Packaging : The set comes in a large, well decorated box containing numbered bags (A-E and a bag of the electrical components), instructions and a sticker sheet.Instructions : The instructions are usually clear and easy to follow, although the supplemental instructions are either not in English or barely in English.Stickers : There's just a few, and they are not essential or necessary.Parts quality : The normal parts are of a decent quality in terms of fit and finish. The lights, motors and hub are of a very unique design, and cannot be used with other hubs / motors. The wheels are a bit fiddly, and can be VERY hard to fit to the set ; it probably took me 3 or 4 minutes per wheel to attach them to the axles due to how they're designed.Electrical : Since the system is unique, I felt it needed its own section. The RC functions are based on each wheel having its own motor, giving you a tank steering effect, which when combined with the wheels enables you to actually crab-walk the jeep, which is pretty cool. The hub also contains some LED's to try and give a bit of ground effect lighting (which ... doesn't work super well) and a speaker for playing a constant and irritating motor sound ... which is fortunately something that is turned off with one button press on the remote.Set design : The end results of the design are a jeep with functional doors (side and rear), a hood that opens, working front lights (only when you drive forwards), and that is generally pretty good.Overall thoughts : Honestly, it's a pretty cool set.

Exactly as described!
Fantastic setup for older kids who love to build!Bought this for my elementary age son, but it is definitely out of his build ability. That said, it was a really fun project that we could do together, as he helped me check the instructions, screw pieces in, and find and sort the pieces that were needed.Follow the directions (which are sometimes unclear), and definitely need to make some adjustments as necessary. Some of the pieces needed some shaving to make it fit more precisely. Also, when following directions use some discretion, as some parts will need to be matched up exactly, and others will need some logic due to directions not being as precise. That was part of the fun though!Build was challenging, but the payoff was great. Truck moves in all directions, and seing the independent movement is a great plus for my son and myself. All in all a challenging but fun build, and lots of play fun!
