Excellent!!! (+ "Game of Death 2"). Grab it while you can!!!
I know Bruce Lee only appears at the end of the film but this alone would be enough to get this jewel.Watching on superb Blu-Ray quality the ultimate Bruceploitation movie is a gift by itself but I have to admit I simply LOVE what they have done around it. The story is extremely entertaining. What an insane yet incredible plot! The film is very generous and offers plenty of fight scenes, well shot and choreographed by HK's best. The BR was already out of stock before its release. Amazon received a few more copies so I jumped on the opportunity. If you ever hesitate, the "Game of Death 2" is included as a bonus in beatiful quality. The film is a very good surprise. For all kung fu fans, you will certainly enjoy it.

The Bruce Lee film that never was
The Bruce Lee film that never was a Bruce Lee film. The mismatched stock footage, the terrible stand-ins and other bizarre set ups used throughout this terrible mash of a movie have become almost legendary. Not too mention the bad acting from the main Lee stand - in and the awful fighting cries as dubbed by one Chris Kent. Then we have Colleen Camp (playing Bruce's love interest) doing the worst bit of playing hysterical in a film that is actually hysterical . Just watch that scene between her and Dean Jagger in the hospital garden and you'll know what I mean.Gig Young, a once well respected Hollywood actor - who sadly later became an alcoholic. Here he proves it by slurring his dialogue throughout his scenes in the film. Sadly, not long after finishing the film, Gig shot dead his girlfriend Kim Schmidt, he then turned the gun on himself. Kim also happened to be credited as a script writer for 'Game of Death' and the two had met while making the film. Much of the original fight footage Bruce Lee shot was never used in the 1978 version. I tend to think its because the Director Robert Clouse knew that Lee was a better action director than he was.Just take a look at the unedited version of the fight with Kareem Abdul Jabbar featured in the extras section. That P.O.V shot from the rocking chair is sheer genius. Here in the UK we only got two actual Bruce Lee fights featured in the film. The Lee/ Inosanto Nunchaku clash was cut by our censors on its release. Thankfully its all here in this Blu ray edition. And what of the Blu Ray? Well the quality for a Blu ray is actually pretty poor. There is no way this film has under gone any remastering or been up- scaled in any shape or form. Its the same standard as the Hong Legends release. For all its bad points I have given the film three stars only because this is the uncut version. Looking back, Golden Harvest should have left it alone and released the original footage as part of a documentary. That then would have been viewed as a genuine tribute to Bruce Lee rather than this distasteful mess.

Game Of Death - Reflections
I Always Look upon Game Of Death as a pretty Good Action flick Though really This is still without Doubt a Bruce Lee Movie. Made after The untimely Death of Lee The film makers vision of Game Of Death stands up Quite well on its own. Legendary Hollywood star's Dean Jagger and Hugh OBrian are well supported by The lovely Colleen Camp. Camp's big scene in The movie still gets to me When she sings The song Could This Be The Song I Be Singing Tomorrow a beautiful song and Camp sings it beautiful you really need To get The original soundtrack To This movie which I do have To hear The full version of The song. For The best part of The movie we do have a Bruce Lee lookalike standin Handling all The action fight scenes credit should be given To The film makers for staying faithfully To The Dynamic personality That was Bruce Lee. The final half of The movie comes into it's own as we are Treated To footage of The real Bruce Lee filmed just before Lee got The call To make The martial arts epic Enter The Dragon. The Three outstanding fight scenes in Game Of Death featuring Lee are out of This world Tinged with sadness as The last ever fight scenes put on celluloid by The Legendary Bruce Lee. Extras on The Disc are plenty but nothing really new if you owned The DVD release of This film The blu ray Transfer However is stunning. Had Bruce Lee gone on you get a feel with Game Of Death That This is what His next film would have looked like. you could class This as Enter The Dragon Two Game Of Death Though stands on its own as a Very Good Action film and more important as a final Tribute To The Dynamic Bruce Lee.

Viva Bruce Lee!
The movie is what it is - i can't say i'm a fan honestly - it has 11 mins of new footage of Bruce for the film with bits from his earlier films,, along with a lookie likey.I like Bruce a lot and with so few titles available of martial arts Bruce - it still rates as a must have. Also, The extras do elevate this release quite a lot imo.If your new to Bruce, definetly try this later.Chronological is best imo -Big BossFist of FuryWay of the DragonEnter the DragonGame of Death.if you want just one - Enter the Dragon (though you honestly can't go wrong with any of the others either.)Thank you peeps!

Solid Martial Arts Movie, Iconic Fight Scenes
Story: The life of megawatt movie star Billy Lo (Bruce Lee) is always exciting, but now he has the added thrills of being targeted by a powerful organized crime syndicate. As he turned down their offers to recruit him, they have decided to eliminate him to send a message. But he is able to survive an assassination attempt disguised as a movie set accident, though not everyone knows he remains alive. Billy fakes his death and changes his appearance, so that he can return into the world and extract his vengeance. But even with the element of surprise and his incredible martial arts skills, can one man take down the syndicate?Entertainment Value: To call Game of Death a troubled production would be an epic understatement, as the sudden death of Bruce Lee would send shockwaves throughout the world, let alone the production itself. While the movie was finished and released, most of the footage does not involve Bruce Lee sadly, as doubles are used heavily throughout, both in the action and expositional scenes. This makes the film seem overly campy at times, but I think the offbeat tone can be fun to watch, though it certainly doesn't evoke classic Bruce Lee vibes. I still think this is an enjoyable movie, as the fight scenes are frequent and well executed, the b movie texture often present was fun, and of course, when Bruce Lee is on screen, he is as iconic as ever. The legendary fight between Lee and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is reason enough to visit Game of Death, but the entire final act is Bruce Lee magic and the floor-by-floor martial arts assault that closes the picture is simply fantastic. I don't think Game of Death measures up to Lee's best work, but I think it is solid martial arts cinema and well worth a look. While he isn't around in most of the scenes here, it is no surprise that when Bruce Lee is in Game of Death, those are the most memorable sequences. I mentioned the battle with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar above and that scene is beyond iconic, a one of a kind, unforgettable showdown. The scene could have seemed comical or over the top, but it is very effective and has some real grit. The visual element is remarkable and I think that fight alone is enough to recommend Game of Death. But Lee has other good action scenes here as well, so while his doubles get a lot of screen time, Lee is still able to shine here. And while those doubles can't match his screen presence or charisma, they're fun to watch most of the time. The cast also includes Colleen Camp, Robert Wall, Gig Young, Sammo Hung, Mel Novak, Hugh O'Brian, and Dean Jagger.

Sonst nichts. Da hätte man sich mehr gewünscht.Tonspuren: Deutsch und Englisch. Untertitel nur Deutsch. Der englische Originalton ist leicht verrauscht.
