I needed a large sewing basket for hand embroidery projects. I like the old-fashioned look, not the new ones that you can buy at any chain fabric store all covered in fabric. This one is great--nice and big, it even fits three of my stitch dictionaries. It is woven synthetic (I think) rattan with a faux needlepoint top that features art nouveau pictures by Alphonse Mucha. Nice touch. Also the tags are in Russian. So made in Russia maybe as opposed to China? I want to add that the rattan does not jump out as plastic, it looks like rattan. My only complaint is that it is really too expensive for essentially an empty box, but I liked the aesthetics of it. Sewing baskets in general seem too costly for what they are. But I am happy to have it, and would recommend if the cost is not prohibitive for you. I hope it lasts.

This basket is stunningly beautiful! I bought it for a dear friend who is just embarking on her sewing career. I chose this basket because of 1) its large size and 2) it comes empty. Since she wants to focus on a certain type of product, I wanted to fill the basket with stuff she'd actually need and use. I bought 100s of things--special feet, needles, bobbins, etc.--and it all fit, including 2 10in. heavy duty scissors and a sidewinder. Best of all the basket doesn't look or feel crowded. It looks inviting, like it's begging to be used.Yes, this basket is made in China. However, the quality of the workmanship appears to be very high. It feels sturdy. There is no loose stitching inside or out, no snags or loose threads. The basket itself is very tight and well constructed.My only problem is that the delivery date kept changing without any explanation. Originally, it was supposed to arrive between Sept.29-Oct.2. It was marked as having arrived at 8pm on Oct 2, but wasn't here. When I logged in to make a complaint (I've had deliveries sent to the wrong location before), the delivery date had changed to Oct. 4. Again it made no appearance. I logged in today, the 5th, and once the date changed to between Oct.5-Oct.9. This afternoon, though, it was delivered! The outside of the package was a damaged mess, but whoever packed it must have considered the risks of how far it had to go. Deep inside the mess of shredded tape and ripped plastic was a box of thick cardboard. Inside that the basket had been stuffed and wrapped with foam, paper and bubble wrap! It took us about 15 minutes to finally free the basket for examination. Not a scratch or dent!One weird thing, there was a scarf inside the basket, in its own plastic bag. Nice surprise freebie.

It is difficult to find a larger sized sewing box. This one is pretty enough to sit out as a piece of artwork in itself. Well constructed, with nice compartments inside. The choice of different designs on top is a big plus too. The only downside is that the cat thinks this is the world's best scratching post - so it can't be left out - which is a shame since it looks so nice.

Worth every penny. Well made, and can hold a large amount of stuff--threads, scissors, pins, needles, etc. Beautiful blue color as in photo. It came well packed in a box within a box with bubbles.

5 stars if the lid would slant back enough to allow it to stay open - to have to hold the lid open is a real inconvenience. The needle work on the lid is beautiful and the handle and box is very sturdy.

This is a BEAUTIFUL, quality sewing basket! If my mother were still alive I'd order one for her ...hat's how impressed I am with this basket! It is very large and will fulfill the needs of the most avid seamstress. I can't see any flaws. I am so very pleased with this purchase especially since it is pricey but so glad I got it. I can't believe how quickly it arrived from China. I ordered it on January 16th and received it today, January 23rd; and it was delivered by Fed Ex. It was very well wrapped for shipping and arrived in perfect condition. The online pictures of the basket inside and out and the colors are exact, at least as seen on my computer. I cannot say enough nice things about about this sewing basket. It will make a beautiful gift for that special seamstress in your life or for yourself.....you are worth it!

Super cute and a satisfying way to organize my core sewing kit. I wish it was bigger, but maybe they will start manufacturing larger sizes after reading my review! :D
