These come in a two-pack. The material they are made of seems quite sturdy and has a slightly odd, sticky feel to it.The non-stick properties of these worked really well for my first bake. I did flour the central round portion before putting my dough on to rise for two hours, but the sides were unfloured, and both came away from the baked loaf just fine when it emerged from the oven (see photos).These work best for a firm dough (i.e., not a high hydration dough). If you are (intentionally) baking with a dough that is quite wet then the slings don't contain the dough as it proves/rises so it can pour off the sling(s) and lose its shape. For my first loaf I propped up the "arms" of the sling with various objects to try to keep the dough in place, but it even found its way around the slings in the oven, trapping them in place in a couple of spots. I used both slings together, at right angles to each other, to try to form a perimeter for the dough, which was moderately successful, but with a firm dough it is much more likely to stay in place, and even more so if you are baking small loaves. For my slack dough these slings made my loaf turn out more square than round.I did wonder whether the slings would leave noticeable dents in the finished loaf. You can see a slight pattern on the bottom of my loaf, caused by the texture of the surface of the top sling, but the material these slings are made of is sufficiently thin that it does not really leave much of a mark where it was against the loaf.Note that unlike some silicone materials, these can still be quite hot when they come out of the oven, so you need to wear oven gloves to remove the bread from your pan or baking stone.These have been very easy to wash up so far: burnt flour and dough crumbs come right off. I washed them when they first came, too, to remove any manufacturing residue.

I have a Remoska tabletop oven and cook all sorts in it. You cook most things directly in it as it is like a big round dutch oven with the lid being the heating element. It cooks things like stews etc without other bakeware, but I also like to do smaller items in it like crumbles in their own smaller Pyrex dishes. That gives me the issue of how to get the dishes out without burning myself as oven gloves are too big to get to the sides of the dish. I have up to now been using foil folded over and over to give me a 3 inch ‘strap’ that goes from one side of the dish to the other leaving enough at the edges to grab. When I saw this I knew it was just the thing and would be stronger than my homemade version and I could use it for bread as well which I have recently started to make on our wood burning stove in a dutch oven. Having the 2 different shapes and sizes is ideal for different uses and they are a good price for the 2 being strong and sturdy and easy to clean. I ordered this pair of silicone bread slings to make bread. I've got a round Dutch oven but I hope to get an oval one too. This is a nice pair of silicone bread slings. One is round and the other is oval, thus covering your different bread shape needs.They can both also be used in other pans with foods that might be difficult it get out. You can use them for meat, cakes and pizzas etc. The pizzas would have to to be small ones though.You can use them to knead on too and also in proofing baskets.The quality of both of them seems quite good. They both have measurements on them in centimetres and inches so you can measure your dough on them.They are dishwasher safe but easy to wash by hand.So far I'm happy with them. I'll update my review in the future if there are any problems with them that arise. 🍞

I have given myself a few burns before lowering and lifting bread. I ended up buying gauntlet style gloves then switched to a lodge cast iron pot, because they have a flat lid. The problem with most cast iron pots is the lid is not flat and has a knob in the middle, meaning they can’t be used upside down. This is much cheaper than buying new cast iron pots with flat lids just for baking sourdough. 250C is a good temp rating and higher than most baking paper. I use similar silicone baking mats so am confident these will work. I will use for my next bake. If I have any issues, I will update my review.

I orderd these bread slings more for other purposes than baking bread. I have a few recipes that I bake in my cast iron skillet, such as Tah Chin (Persian rice pie) and fruit buckles; but sometimes they're spoiled by sticking to the pan base. Fortunately, as I'd hoped, these silicon mats exactly fit the base of my skillet, and will enable me to lift the finished dishes out without them falling apart or sticking. They also exactly fit the base of a deep cake pan I sometimes use; I usually cut something the same shape as these mats from baking parchment to line the base, but next time I shall try this mat instead. If you have the right use for them, they should be a good investment that will reduce hassle.
