Not as advertised
The stapler looks sturdy and it is larger than the picture would suggest. However, it arrived WITHOUT THE 1000 STAPLES. The product description was misleading and there does not appear to be a link to contact the seller. This will not be a repeat purchase.

Not a bad stapler
Good stapler however arrived with a staple jammed at the front. Not too much of an issue as could be removed with a knife. Also only came with about 5 staples inside.

Stapler arrived without the box of staples, as advertised. Now have to go through trying to get the staples or place an additional order for them.

A robust and reliable stapling plier which is better than traditional desktop staplers albeit, I prefer using larger staples
As you will see from the pictures, this is clearly not an ordinary stapler. However, in many respects, it's better than an ordinary stapler and there is no reason as to why it can't be used as one.The blurb for this classic stapling plier states that it is capable of stapling up to 16 pages and can accept 21/4mm staples - please note that these are much smaller that the more common 26/6mm staples, the latter of which I believe have pretty much become the common standard these days. From my perspective, I'm not sure why it is necessary to maintain this smaller variety of staples as there is nothing that can be achieved with them, which can't be achieved with 26/6mm staples. Having said that, this review is of the stapler and its ability to staple and so the size of staples which it accepts is somewhat irrelevant.Given the claim to be able to staple up to 16 pages, I was keen to test this claim and found it to be very accurate - in fact, I think that it could have managed slightly more than 16 pages, albeit the length of the staples might very quickly become a limiting factor. Furthermore, the amount of force which is required to staple the maximum number of pages (16 sheets of 80g/sm) is surprisingly small and whilst I hate to use overworked cliches, using the plier is like putting a knife through butter. However, I did notice a slight "stickiness" in the mechanism i.e. the blade which forces the staple into the paper wouldn't always spring back to its normal position but another slight squeeze of the handle generally solved this.Loading the plier with staples is somewhat different to how you would load a normal stapler, although not really any more difficult. You will be able to see a small ring at the back of the plier and this unhooks to allow the staples to be slide in and then re-hooks to keep them secure. In case you're wondering, the plier has capacity to hold up to about 1.5 sections of staples of staples at any point in time, which I believe is equivalent to about 150 staples. In summary, I have been really impressed by the quality and reliability of this stapling plier and I would honestly be very tempted to replace my traditional desktop stapler with one of this kind, purely because I think it does a much better job. Too often with a traditional stapler do you end up with bent staples, but this seems to have been eliminated with this particular stapling plier. However, purely because 26/6mm staples are more common and offer a greater capacity, I would probably suggest that Rapesco Stapling Plier - Porpoise would be a better purchase (also available in blue and pink).

Regular size plier using mini staples.
STAPLE SIZESStapler sizes are so confusing… Until today I did not even realize there were more than 2 sizes. I always thought there were mini and standard staple sizes. I was very wrong. Staples are not only coming in different sizes widthwise but also can have different height.Standard staplers usually use 24/6 mm or 26/6 mm staples while mini ones use 21/4 mm staples and this is what this particular stapling plier from Rapesco uses.I’m not quite sure why description says for “64 (6/4 mm) and 21/4 mm Staples“. As I was getting it for review it came with separate box of 21/4 mm staples and they fit perfectly. I don’t have any 6/4 mm on hand to test but it is possible they would fit as well.STAPLING PLIERS VS. STAPLERI really like to use staple pliers so much more than regular staplers. There is couple of reasons for this, first of all they are more comfortable to work with, more precise as well as you can see better where you are stapling and with staple pliers you can reach further than with regular stapler. This stapling plier has 45 mm throat and is thinner on the base so it can reach places that regular stapler may struggle with. So if you want to staple something other than corner of the papers, staple pliers are much more handy. My daughter makes miniature notebooks and staple pliers are just perfect for this.SUMMARYRapesco Stapling Plier SP-64 is well made, easy to load, straightforward to use and it is a very handy tool to have at any home or office.
