Great product at a reasonable price
They arrived today and within an hour of delivery they were on my truck and good to go.Packaging: The box they arrived in was pretty beat-up, but they were padded and protected well enough that there wasn't a scratch on them. The hardware was in its own box, which is good because if it was loose in the main box it would have likely scratched or dented the rails. The parts were in color coded plastic (green for driver's side, clear for passenger side), and the bolts came in three different bags.Installation: After reading other reviews here, I purchased a can of black paint to use on the bolts (I read a lot of reviews that said the bolts were all brass-colored/zinc coated and since my truck is black, I didn't want those shiny bolts to be visible). I was pleasantly surprised to find that the bolts included with my set were all black.I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic crew cab and only my front mounting holes had welded-in nuts, so I had to use the included bolt-brackets for the mid and rear mounts. Not sure if all models have this issue, but my center mounting point wasn't very deep, making it a bit of a trick to get that bolt-bracket into place (it took some jiggling-around to get it to go in there). The rear one had ample space and went in easily.Aside from that, the installation went very smooth. I did actually break a bolt (one of the little ones at the pinch weld), but it was no fault of the manufacturer... I overtightened it. Luckily the bolts don't appear to be custom, and I'm certain I'll find a suitable replacement at my local hardware store.I read a lot of reviews about water getting into these, so before I even had one bracket on the truck, I drilled two 3/16" holes in the bottom of each rail (one at the front and one at the rear). I did notice that the steel is quite thin, so I would recommend doing this to prevent them from rusting-out.For anyone else with a 2019 Ram classic: All the holes in the pinch-weld were already present, so there was no drilling required.Instructions: The instructions were a little confusing at first. They provided text instructions and then referenced images on other pages. Would have been a bit easier to follow if they had put the related images near the text, but it wasn't that hard to figure out. If you're mechanically-inclined, you'll have no trouble at all. Just fit everything up (loose), and save the tightening as the last step.Overall: They work great. I'm 6'1" and 220 lbs and they don't even flinch at my weight on them. They stick out (sidewards) far enough to be used, but not so far that you bang your knee on them when you walk up to the truck. They also don't hang down so far as to be a problem (you might lose around 1-2" of center clearance). That was important to me as I often drive into fields/pastures and can't afford to lose much underbody clearance. My one and only complaint at this point is that the glossy paint on the truck really makes the rails look dull (even though they're quite nicely painted). If this was more of a road truck (less of a farm truck), I might be inclined to use a buffer and 3M compound on them (they seem to be painted well enough that they would gloss-up nicely).

Good for low cost step bar, Ram 1500
They look great and sturdy for average use. Install on 2018 ram 1500 a couple weeks ago, before install you really need to lay out all parts and hardware inventory and position all parts with proper orientation. Once this is done install goes smooth, took my time and everything aligned properly. Make sure to leave all hard ware a little bit loose until all brackets and steps are attached. This will ensure alignment for all parts before tightening. I have years of experience working on cars and aircraft, I really laugh at some of these negative reviews. Ive had set of TAC bars on my other vehicle for over a year they’ve been great. When you order product like this don’t expect pure perfection with every aspect of the product, if you’re this way order the $600 steps. The instructions are not horrible, if you’re mechanical and access things they are fine. One confusing thing when starting, you will figure out there is two different mount opinions for the underbody brackets, mine all ready had nuts in the underbody. So I didn’t have to fish in the nut plate brackets, just use the provided bolts. Hopefully this is helpful.

Fit perfect. Very rugged.
These fit great. Install took about an hour. Very sturdy and substantial especially for the price. Did not expect this level of quality for this price point. The “bed liner” style finish is very well done. 3 months in and they are holding up really well.Would buy again.NOTE: The brackets aren’t the most stylish looking things. Very utilitarian looking. Also because of the way they sit on the vehicle they build up with ice, snow and mud very easily.MINOR ANNOYANCE

Full review for TAC Nerf Bars
I purchased these for my 2016 RAM 1500 Sport Crew cab. They have the correct hardware for the 2016 (or 2015 1/2 as stated on the instructions) and also include the hardware for earlier models as stated in the description. You will have extra bolts\hardware if you have a newer model truck.Shipping:As stated in the ad, it took 2 days before they were shipped. When they left the warehouse they arrived from California to the Twin Cities suburbs in 3 days. The box was damaged slightly but the contents seemed to be packed well and no damage was visible at first inspection.Unpacking:The box was about as efficiently packed as possible. Everything was wrapped individually and the parts were wrapped in color coded plastic, green for driver's side; clear for passenger side. The nerf bars themselves were wrapped in color coded bubble wrap. The passenger rail was received with a dent in it. (I will get to that later in the review) The mounting brackets were stamped in the steel with the part position which made identification easy (Driver side front stamped DF; Passenger side rear stamped: PR; etc.)The hardware was contained in 3 bags. They were not labeled very well and one bag had a mix of 5 different nuts, bolts and washers with no identification chart shown in the included directions. This really wasn't an issue if you have worked with metric bolts and nuts before because they are different enough in size that you to tell by looking at them what they were. There were also 6 plastic squares that were not referenced in the instructions. You will need these and I will explain where later.Again, you will have extra hardware if you have a later model 2015 or 2016 Crew Cab truck.Instructions:The instructions were easily readable and were written in clear English. Although they were well written they were a little confusing. Instead of creating two separate pages for the different model years these fit, the writer has you jumping around from section to section for your specific model. The diagrams in the instructions leave a little to be desired. I have included some pretty good pictures of how the parts line up which may help you out.All in all, the instructions were adequate but could be better, especially for the drivers side FRONT bracket. This one is different than the other 5 brackets so, as the instructions say, do this one first and get it out of the way.Installation:The installation time took me about 75 minutes from the time I had everything laid out and my tools ready to completion. I would say that it took me about 15 minutes just to figure out the first bracket and then about 30 minutes per side to install all the brackets and the bars including torqueing them down. You will need a metric socket set or wrenches to complete this installation. The hardware includes a bolt assembly that gets inserted into the frame. This leaves a bolt protruding from the frame that can be knocked into the frame. The manufacturer includes plastic "retainer" pieces to slip over the nut to prevent this from happening. Be sure to use them or you may find yourself wasting time fishing these assemblies out of your frame.Fitment:These fit my 2016 RAM 1500 Sport Crew Cab perfectly from door to door. They are straight, not curved, with welded end caps as opposed to plastic caps that other name brand nerf bars have. The step pads appear to be ABS plastic which provides a sturdy grip in the warm weather but I wonder if they will be slick and hard when I step on them in winter with snow filled shoe soles. Also, I feel the front and rear step pads could be positioned about 4 inches closer to the rear of the vehicle but that may just be my preference. The brackets fit nicely to the vehicle and the holes were oversized which allowed for easy adjustment. The brackets themselves were powder coated flat black as were the nerf bars. The mounting hardware was gold tone except for the bolts that attach the bars to the brackets. These were powder coated black. The only hardware that can be seen from the outside is the driver's front bracket nuts and bolts. There are 3 bolts that are gold tone that can be seen. I will be painting them black soon.Customer Service:As stated earlier, the passenger bar had a dent in it. I did not notice this until I was tightening up all the hardware so I left it on the truck and contacted the dealer. I sent my email around 3:30 PM PST but did not receive a response today. I will post back and adjust my rating and update my review when I have more details on how they will handle the damage to my product.UPDATE 5/27/2016: I have received two responses from customer service. Both were received after 6:30 PM PST on consecutive nights. The first message requested pictures of the dented nerf bar. I replied with 2 images of the dent. The second reply I received was an offer from customer service for a 20% refund on my order if I kept the damaged bar or I could send the entire kit back for a full refund, postage paid. Neither of these options works for me. I really like the look and fit of the bars and ultimately would like to keep them so I offered to have them just send the replacement part and I would be happy. I will let you know the results of that request after the holiday weekend. If they don't agree to that I may take my business elsewhere.UPDATE 5/30/16: I received a second offer on 5/28/16 of 40% refund to keep the damaged bar but, like I stated before, I didn't want that. I requested a replacement for just the passenger side and they said that someone would contact me on Tuesday to take care of the replacement. So, as it is playing out and although it will cost them money, they are going to honor my request. That is the right thing to do and if all goes as planned I will be upgrading the review to 5 stars once the replacement bar is received.UPDATE 6/14/16: I finally received the replacement passenger bar on 6/14. They were obviously in no hurry to get it shipped out. On 5/31/16 I received an email with tracking information but the item didn't actually leave the warehouse until 6/8/16. I have installed the bar and it looks great. I do have some concerns now that I have been using them for a couple of weeks.First, they flex a little. I am about 200# and I can feel a definite flex when I step up. I am not sure how this will play out long-term but I will be keeping an eye on the brackets.Second, when I removed the dented nerf bar water was dripping out of the bolt holes. The water was very rusty which got me to looking at the design. I noticed that the plastic steps are not sealed to the steel. This allows moisture to enter during rain storms and splashing through deep puddles. The water then has no place to go so the bars will eventually rust from the inside out not to mention what might happen if the water froze solid up here in Wisconsin. To overcome this I am going to drill "weep" holes in the bottom front and rear of the bars on both passenger and drivers side and coat with POR-15. Hopefully this will allow the water to drip out during motion. I have also heard that these accessories contribute to rusty rocker panels so I will be keeping an eye on that.UPDATE: 11/6/2016These bars will gather water during washing, rain or perhaps when snow and salt are kicked up while driving. They will hold the water which causes them to rust from the inside out. As I mentioned in my previousI finally got around to drilling weep holes and draining my bars. It was quite the messy job but it was well worth it. I used a 3/16 bit to bore a hole into the underside of the nerf bar about 2" from the rear of the bar.I will let them air out for a few days and they coat the hole with POR-15. After that I will spray the inside of the tube with fogging oil in an attempt to delay the rusting.Check out the latest pictures to see the mess.Summary:I installed these today 5/26/2016. My initial opinion is that these are good for the money. My dealer wanted over $500.00 for similar looking bars. The install was straight forward and there was no drilling involved with my 2016 RAM 1500 Crew Cab. The quality appears to be good and the workmanship seems good as well.**Please see my update from 6/14/16 for some design observations after a couple weeks of use. They look great on my truck and my wife and kids like that they can get in and out without jumping.
