This battery operated gun is well made and easy to operate, just add the batteries, load the soft bullets, and you are ready. It's comes with 40 soft bullets. My grandson who is 8 has had many hours of playing with it. I wouldn't advise younger children to use it as the bullets come out fast and could be dangerous if they hit someone in the face. An ideal gift.

Item didn't work so ended up sending it back

Ordered this for our nephew who is 9 years old.He has a few (Nerf) guns that's fire using an elastic pull back mechanism. this is another dimension this is much much more powerful. All you do is put in the required 3x AA batteries in the battery compartment (you will need a screw driver) then fill the cylinder with the missiles/darts (it holds 10) turn it on you will hear the motor running and then you just pull the trigger and out shoots a dart keep pulling the trigger and the darts/missiles continue to shoot out. they travel about 30 to 40 ft. so this is a good gun but the reason for the drop in 1 star is that there are NO instructions with the gun. a few lines on the side of the box tells you to use 3 x aa batterie but doest even explain where the battery compartment is (it took me a while to find it) there is a movable cover at the top of the cylinder no explanation on what it does. Some proper instructions are needed especially with warning about not shooting at the face (it does say not to do this on the box but written instruction are needed for this product
