You will need the enclosed sensor even if you are only replacing the remote.
I ordered this because I accidently ruined my remote by allowing it to get saturated in liquid. It came with the sensor which is the brain of the fan. I thought I would only need the remote but turned out I needed the sensor too! The new remote could not communicate with the older sensor. So thankful it was included!! Fan works great again!!

Interfaces Well
I did have to get an electrician to install the remote, but it works very well.

Didn't work
Bought this to replace remote for our Harbor Breeze fan with light. This unit had 4 wires to attach; our fan had 7 wires. 2 electricians said there was no way to make it work. Got fan to operate on low ,never got light to work. A piece of garbage.

Easy install with nearly perfect functionality
This remote controller was easy to install and is very easy to operate. My only criticism is with the walkaway timer that shuts off the lights after a minute of pressing it. It's a nice feature that would be even better if it shut down the fan as well. Other than that, it works great!

Easy to sync with old receiver.
Lost my remote and order this one with a new receiver just in case it doesn't sync with the old one, but it was a breeze to sync, it took 15s after reading the instructions.

Works with an existing transmitter
Read one of the reviews that said it works with existing transmitter and it really does! Saved myself a hassle of getting an electrician and all after my dog chewed on old remote. Turn off the fan and light, press the learn button on the back of the remote for 3 seconds, lights flash and you’re all set. Flip the dim button if you have dimmable lights and that works like a charm too.

Can pair with another transmitter!
The reviews that say you cannot pair this with another transmitter you may already have are not true. I had a fan installed and the electrician only did one remote that I mounted on the wall. Because the fan is in a stairway I wanted to be able to control it from the top or bottom of the stairs. It would be very difficult to change the transmitter out to work with two fans but I didn't have to do that! I bought another remote and reprogrammed it to work with the transmitter I have already installed in my fan and it works great so now I have one at the top of the stairs and one at the bottom. To reprogram: Turn the fan/light off. Set the fan stop completely. Turn it back on and within 30 seconds push down the program button with a small screwdriver for three seconds. It is located directly next to the battery. That's all you have to do and it should work!
