Excellent! Read for details on how-to and volume.
I never thought I'd get such a big kick out of what looks like a bowl full of water. So excited to use these for centerpieces at an upcoming party; will dehydrate & use again. Perfect for a wedding reception, a rehearsal luncheon, rehearsal dinner, etc. I’m glad I got this version b/c of the spout opening that makes it SO much easier to measure out beads! Tiny print on the pkg says ratio of beads to water is 1:110; that's a good start, but you'll want more water. Here's all the volume-based & how-to info you may need. I searched for these details but ended up working them out myself:1:110 beads:water means that 1/8 cup beads = 13.75 cups water. After beads fully expanded, I increased to about 16 total cups of water so that the clear gel beads seemed to disappear (so, 1:128). Some people said their beads overflowed the container; you can prevent this problem by planning for this ratio ahead of time. I think the beads took a few more hours to expand than indicated on the package, so allow extra time.1/8 cup dry beads expanded to 14 cups of drained, fully hydrated beads! I have the Eastland cylinder-vases set, @ 7.5", 9", and 10.5" tall, and 3.25" exterior diameter. After using 1/2 cup of river rocks (pre-rinsed, to make sure the vase water stays clean & clear) in the bottom of each vase, I filled vases with a total of 9.5 cups (for all 3 vases) of expanded gel beads, to about 3" to 3.5" from top. To do so, you can scoop beads from the expansion bowl, using a small strainer, or you can carefully pour all beads/water through a giant strainer (the sink-straddling kind) before scooping (be careful, b/c the beads want to bounce all over the place, but this approach is still easier). I added no-hole pearls as floaties, interspersing them with the gel beads as I filled the vases. Your floaties need to be very light (not little stones, for ex) b/c otherwise, they'll gradually work their way to the bottom. Watch that 3” to 3.5” max volume; this is important (3.5” is best, even after you trim your candles' wicks to 1/4").Then I added just enough water to the vases to fill in around the beads, pouring slowly to minimize trapped air bubbles (although those look pretty cool anyway), and maxing out at 2.5” from the top so that when you add a 3” diameter floating candle, the flame will be safely contained inside the cylinder. The water makes the vase appear transparent, and the floaties seem to levitate between the base rocks & the floating candle. Last, dry off your cylinders b/c drips of water won’t do your table runner any favors. Assemble your centerpieces.Just run the math on how many gel beads you need to hydrate in order to fill your desired containers, & go for it. I bought the two-pack of clear gel beads but I will barely cut into the one-pack. Work slowly, b/c these slippery little beads can get away from you, and they're NOT good for kids, pets, or plumbing. Have fun, & hope this info helps!

So many gel beads
Bought this product for my son's 3rd grade market day project. He made stress balls with these and balloons. They worked perfectly and were a huge hit. He sold out within 30 minutes! We have plenty of beads left over for future crafts as well.

These are great - but pay attention to the instructions!
I got these for a Christmas project so having never worked them b4 I thought I would give em a test run to make sure they work the way they say they do. Well they do you can't see them once in water. But when I say pay attention to the instructions I will save you my mistake. Your supposed to use like a tsp for a bunch of water but when they started to expand I thought well that's not gonna b enuf! Yep u guessed it I just kept adding more. Now I have enough for 100 projects. Lol. My fault but luckily u get so many in the bag even if I can't keep the hydrated ones ill still have a million more. Very satisfied and you definitely get a ton for the $$
