Clairefontaine - Ref 12700L - G.Lalo Plain Laid Paper Sheets (Pad of 50) - A4 (210 x 297mm) Sized, 100gsm 25% Cotton Paper, Vergé de France, PEFC-Certified - White

This is a review of a G Lalo Blue Verge de France A4 pad. I bought this to use for writing letters in fountain pen. It is paper with a slight texture, which takes the broad-nibbed fountain pen well. It doesn't snag the nib. The pen doesn't skid, and the ink does not feather or spread out on the paper.The plain blue paper is totally opaque. The writing is not visible through the sheet, so I can write on both sides. The slight disadvantage is that it's not possible to use a lined undersheet to keep the writing straight.The blue colour is not too dark: writing in ink is perfectly legible.The pad comes with no blotting paper, and no lined sheet. It is wrapped in clear plastic.So while it is good quality I would not class it as a "luxury" item. So I find the price a bit high. For this price I'd expect blotting paper and some classy packaging.

This is wonderful writing paper which, like Crown Mill, gives an immediate impression of opulence. Thankfully a pad is not terribly expensive, so if you are unsure if your combination of ink and fountain pen will enjoy this paper it does not cost so very much to test them out.I use a Montblanc 149 with an EF nib, as well as Cross Bailey standard medium nibs, and Franklin-Cristoph flex and music nibs. All using Montblanc's ink, and all write very well on this paper.There is no blotting sheet supplied, and no lined guide sheet. I tried the guide sheet from a pad of Crown Mill and surprisingly you can actually see the lines through this heavy paper!The product description does not make it obvious but this is laid paper, with a faint texture of fine, horizontal lines actually pressed into the sheets. The paper is uncoated and made from 25% cotton.

Nice, good quality paper with a very distinctive feel. Perfect for letter writing -- if it weren't for the watermark on each page, which cheapens it considerably. If the branding on each page doesn't bother you, this is great paper.

These are great envelopes with some serious heft to them and crisp lines. They have a very pleasing paper colour, with a nice touch being the contrasting brown interior. So far I have only sent, not received, so sadly I can only imagine the thrill of receiving a hand-written letter that has been sent in one of these.

Great quality paper with a nice watermark, accepts all types of ink, from biro to fountain pen without bleeding.

Does not include a ruled guide page. Otherwise, reasonable quality paper.

Quality. Beautiful paper. Also has equally beautiful envelopes to match.
