Sick of mind & body...you decide who's really sick.
4.5 stars and that's only because the ending left me unclear as to what happened to Aubrey. And there's something else that wasn't explained in the book ~ things disappear in Aubrey's phone. How? That's not explained. A book has to be really good or must have a very good reason for me to accept clear omissions like that! The chapters go back and forth between Aubrey & Melissa along with a total of 3 letters Aubrey leaves behind to the men she believes love her and she, them, The book is 308 pages long. This is Rachel Hargrove's debut psychological thriller. Her 2nd one, "My Sister's Ashes" is one that I will be reading soon. Hopefully it will be as good as this one.The title of this book is "Sick Girl"~ up to you to figure out which one really is or......not.The book starts out with Aubrey~who loves Tom, but his wife? Not so much. In fact, Aubrey is planning on killing her so she can have Tom and his children all to herself! But her plans don't always go the way she wants. Between other people in her life that get in the way...don't worry, they get taken care of and the surprise friendship she ends up having with Tom's wife...well, like I said things just don't go her way and things get in the way. But this affair she's having with Tom will NOT be broken! What's a sick girl to do? Sick? Well yes, she has cancer you see. She follows Tom's wife everywhere. She even joins the same yoga class that his wife takes just so she can keep an eye on her.Melissa~Tom's wife. She loves Tom so much. And how can she not? He is always so concerned about her and wants to help her in every way he can regarding her cancer diagnosis. Yes...yes, Melissa is "sick" too. But between having to take care of the kids (Stacy & Grayson) and not feeling well, she doesn't get out much. Well, except for her yoga class...this, of course is where she meets Aubrey. But in time, Melissa starts getting suspicious of Tom...he's staying out late, she finds movie tickets to a movie she wanted to see in his pockets. Who did he go with? She finds out that someone is sending Tom flowers at his workplace...then a weird note is attached to her daughters b'day present! The note is in reference to what she suspects Tom of and it's signed with nothing more than the initial "A".....Tom~married to Melissa. He's not only handsome, but a wonderful guy to boot! The way he dotes on his wife. Making sure she's eating healthy and taking all the right supplements. He can't possibly be cheating on Melissa! He tells her this over & over after she confronts him about her suspicions. This book made me go back & forth over who was really the "sick" one. Or maybe one was more "sick" than the other? Turns out everyone was "sick", in their own way. LOL

A good suspense but read a bit slow in places
My first book by this author. I’m giving it 3.5. It is a psychological thriller and I found it to be quite the roller coaster ride, but some parts, especially the beginning did read quite slow so I’m torn. This book is a soup pot of crazy characters and the book sticks with you for days after. My only issue is I wished there was less inner dialogue and more one on one. I did find myself reading until the wee hours - I had to find out what happened so it is intriguing and suspenseful/

Great psychological thriller that will take your breath away! Put this on your short list of must reads!
Wow! That’s all I can think to say. This has got to be one of the best books I’ve read in quite some time. Unputdownable is honestly an understatement. I started the book just yesterday and became consumed by the plot, the storyline, the characters, and the lives they were living. I honestly became immersed in the life of these characters. What a rollercoaster ride. I absolutely loved everything about this book and have pre-ordered the author’s next book as well. For fans of psychological thrillers this has to be on your short list. It will not disappoint, take my word for it! But don’t start the book if you have some place to be, if you do you will likely be late, or not get there at all! Loved it!

Really far-fetched
I hate giving 2 stars. No one reads 2-3 star reviews. I don’t. I read the reviews of people who loved it and those who hated it. This story dragged and I almost gave up. But the 5 star reviewers said there was a surprising twist. So I soldiered on. It just kept getting weirder and weirder.

There's surprising revelations involving all three points of this love triangle
In her novel Sick Girl, Rachel Hargrove tells the story of both Aubrey and Melissa from their alternating perspectives. Aubrey is in love with Melissa's husband as well as Melissa's lifestyle. Both women are terminally ill and therefore live a life different from everyone surrounding them. To get close enough to kill Melissa, Aubrey has to befriend her. In doing so, she realizes that she actually likes Melissa. Killing her becomes much more difficult once they've become friends.Aubrey is definitely a sick girl in more than one wayAubrey is definitely suffering from some delusions. In her perspective, the transition into her lover's life will be simple. Of course he puts his wife first right now, but if Melissa were gone then he could finally put Aubrey first. Simple really, Melissa is terminal anyway. All Aubrey is doing is speeding the process along. Aubrey could move-in with Tom and the kids and enjoy the only good thing going on in her life, Tom. She'd be happy through her final days.Tom's wife Melissa was the bread-winning success before she got sick. She was the reason that they could afford the mcmansion in San Francisco. Her tech start-up put them in designer clothes and fancy cars. When her illness forces her to step down from work she becomes obsessed with the company's place in the stock market. She can't remove herself from her phone, following her "first baby" while being stay-at-home mom to her two actual children. Melissa could be considered the lucky one between her and Aubrey. Melissa has money to throw at organic food, high quality vitamins, and expensive naturopaths. Most of all, she's not facing death alone. There's surprising revelations involving all three points of this love triangleAs a reader, you can't help but want both women to get a happy ending. Both of them are destined to die from page one of this story yet you can't help hoping somehow there's a miracle cure for them. Sure, Aubrey is crazy but she's also dying alone. She might just need psychiatric treatment and distance from Tom. Melissa might not be the world's best mom but again, Cancer. Cancer makes it hard to be as attentive to her kids as she needs to be. She's fighting for her life literally and was already suffering depression from the loss of her career. So how does Rachel Hargrove get it done? Do they both die? Does Tom finally get caught cheating? Read this exciting thriller to find out!

Disappointing!
I was really enjoying this book. Then a few possibilities opened up the plot and I thought there was going to be a terrific twist at the end. Instead the story just chopped off with a really abrupt and rather stupid ending. It was as if the author had built up to an amazing crescendo then didn’t know how to pull all the loose ends together nor how to finished it, so she simply brought it to a standstill. So disappointing! Would not recommend this book. 😎😟

so-so
Predictable, right down to the final page. Follows the formula with stereotypical villain and everything in between, with the "first reveal" being obvious from the start because it lacked subtlety; therefore, everything after was uninspired. It did pick up a bit near the end, but not enough to save this from mediocrity.
