Ideas worth sharing
I like Michael Hayes' outside-the-box thinking in this book. His vision of nested DNA at micro and macro levels, expanding outward into and beyond the galaxy and correlating with analogous expressions of consciousness, correlates with various teachings from the ageless wisdom tradition. In spite of his insistence that DNA and all of life is based on a musical code that itself is an expression of the two fundamental "Laws" of Three and the Octave (a la Gurdjieff), Hayes does not get very far in showing how to exploit this knowledge. He nevertheless argues that the ancient Egyptians and others have been able to translate knowledge of the musical "Hermetic Code" into practical technologies which are yet to be discovered by our current science. For people interested in an emergent discipline of evolutionary self-musicalisation, this book has many ideas worth sharing.

A key to open the door
Whatever path you may be exploring this is one of those rare books which can actually help you to begin to understand how we and the cosmos cohere. It's imaginative reach is immense. Highly recommended.

Read halfway through but couldn't understand
I really wanted to read this book, after having it recommended to me. I couldn't understand it. I got halfway through and the author had repeated something about a code in DNA that resembles octaves repeating on the 8th note or something. That's the most I could understand. I feel it didn't identify the topic soon enough in the book. A precis in chapter 1 would have helped, setting out the evidence the author was about to present.Instead, I just kept reading, hoping the topic would clarify and the evidence would be presented but for me neither happened. For the price of the book, I wasn't satisfied and I was frustrated because I have read Jeremy Narby's "the cosmic serpent" and he presents his ideas concisely.I returned book
