Good EDC bag for office professional. But not made for a mass transit kinda commute.
I’ve gone through many bags including totes and backpacks. This bag so far has serves me well as an EDC to and from work. It fits a 13” laptop, 2 x 24 oz. water bottles, lunch, snack, work papers and stuff, headphones, and other junk. I wish there were more smaller outside pockets for keys, access badge, etc, but the two front external pockets are adequate. The folding top has a strong magnet for good closure however my walk consist to and from the car port home and office. The material is tough and not soft to the touch as thought before purchasing the recycled gray bag. My only disappointment is shoulder strap attachment buckles - they don’t rotate on each side. I might have to use an existing strap that doesn’t get entangled. However, despite that strap, I recommend this bag.

A quality bag is worth the price!
This is an AWESOME BAG!!! I spent a LONG time looking for a messenger bag/briefcase that had internal water bottle storage (this has 2 dedicated pockets, perfect for my water and coffee!) and did away with the annoying flap found on most messengers. The fold closure on this is quick and easy to use like a zipper but still water repellent like a flap, the perfect compromise! The materials feel and look great and the storage is thoughtfully designed. I was in the habit of purchasing a new cheap bag every few years after they would repeatedly fall apart. I have no doubts this will look great and last for years to come. I’m happy I made the investment!

Not at ALL what I was looking for... and I LOVE it.
Yep, you read that right. I was looking for a sleek, professional laptop carrying solution for work. I wanted something more messenger bag-like than a briefcase, yet something not *too* messenger bag-like. I opened the package and as one review said, it looked more like a re-useable shopping bag at first glance... and felt weird, too... this rumpled fabric that looked off to me. I laid it back on the shipping material it came in... I was for sure going to return it. But later that night I played around with it... I found the pockets to be deeper and hold WAY more than some reviews suggested. I found the zippers to be amazingly smooth and yet the tabs soft to the touch and discreet. The next day it called to me again, and I played with the opening... my gosh I was falling for this weird bag. I loved the way it opened with one hand... no zipper like a briefcase would have, and no unwieldy flap like a messenger bag. The magnetic touch in closing the bag was nice, too (at first I wished it had stronger magnets. but in use I've found them to be just right). The two zippered pockets inside hold a lot, the laptop area carries my 14" travel Mac OR my 16" monster of a Mac... with ease. PLUS my iPad. The water bottle pockets are great and it’s nice not to have bottles visible in outside pockets on the side like most bags. After a few days of playing with it, I decided to try it for a day trip (heck, I could return it if I didn't like it, right?). I loved the shoulder strap... it's not all "pivoty," (made up word but you know what I mean), but rather it's a “there’s-one-way-to-do-this style that makes the bag fit SO well against my back. The handles are like butter when I want to carry it by hand, too. I came back from that day-trip ready to write a review about "looking for a professional bag, but found a casual bag I like so I kept it" kind of situation. But recently I've taken it on two very professional trips and it was perfect. And that weird fabric? It's grown on me and I now think it looks and feels great... makes my other bags look kinda boring. Even the damn key clip (I NEVER use those) is perfect... a soft ribbon with a plastic loop, cut in the middle so your keys slide right in. The lack of an Everest-ready locking mechanism is so welcomed as this allows me to hook my keys/remove my keys in a blink. Same for opening and closing the bag while wearing it... a simple one-handed affair. This at first glance, weird, casual bag... turned out to be the best bag I own (and I have a bag fetish with a STUPID amount of bags sitting waiting to be used). This has become my favorite bag... casual day, work trip, you name it. Holds my business gear plus a Patagonia puffer, full-size headphones, a Fuji x100F, a zippered case of "things," water bottle(s), journals, pens, battery packs.... et al. I am hooked. Don't know why I doubted it since I love Bellroy stuff... but I did. And now I don't. Try this bag out... I bet you'll fall in love. I did.

Good but not too clean of a look
Great materials but bulges and looks ugly when full packed

Functional, Durable and attractive
Beautiful to look at and functional. I have been using this bag for about 3 months now so I have had the opportunity to use it for travel and for an EDC. My only wish is that the 2 pockets on the outside of the bag were made into 1 larger pocket. The 2 small pockets can be difficult to get in and out of because of the width. Holds a 15” laptop (Dell XPS), tech pouch, headphones, and assorted items with no problem. Happy with my purchase and enjoying the bag.

Look no further, this bag is for pro’s
When the office took away our PCs and gave us all laptops to schlep to/from work, I was on the hunt. This bag is perfect. All my other messenger-like bags had a zipper that ran the length of the top and all broke. Not this one. It has a hook, which I can de/attach with on hand. And it’s waterproof.Love the padded, dedicated slot for the laptop—easy to take out at the airport. It has a neighboring slot for a file folder with the paper I’m working on. The middle is a catch all.The best part is perhaps the wide bottom that adds space and dedicated interior end-pockets. In one I put the laptop charger, the other my own case. Two other interior pockets are great for other accessories. The outside.... one side has a long zipper where I throw the book I read on the train. The other side two smaller pockets where I put my purse-like items. A spot for everything and easy access. The shoulder strap favors one side so that the bag is flat against my side.Someone did their homework on this bag. And. I. Love. It! Don’t wast your money on some cheap, branded other bag. This is for pro’s.

Very well made and designed
I was a bit undecided between this bag and the AER Commuter Brief 2... but pulled the trigger on the Bellroy bag and after using it for a week, I'm very happy with it.The large open main compartment makes it easy to pack my MacBook Pro 13, an A4 notebook, change of clothes for the gym as well as a water bottle. The magnetic closure has made getting into the main compartment a breeze which is very useful when you're sat on a train/underground with the bag between your legs. The key ring holder in the front smaller pocket, the two stretchy inner mesh pockets and luggage passthrough are nice touches for when you're on a business trip or travelling with carry on luggage. The work bag is a bit expensive but this, I believe, is justified by its excellent build, use of materials, light weight and functionality. Mine came with a few creases from being packed flat but these will fade, the more I use the bag.
