Safety all the way!
So, when my 81 yr old dad couldn’t find his emergency cut-off plug in his garage, he decided he couldn’t wait for me to help him and went ahead & cut his side of the neighbours conifers, with his hedge trimmer. He sliced through the hedge trimmer’s power cord mid-job and was so, so lucky he didn’t electrocute himself!!After a stern ticking off from me, and me helping to look for said plug, I just decided to buy these new ones.They are brilliant for the price! They work an absolute treat!I have put one on the NEW hedge trimmer & one on his lawn mower. This way there’s one connected at all times & cannot be misplaced.

It seems to be working.
For some reason, every now and again, I would trip the whole house while ironing. The iron is a good brand and not very old but we thought this could at least isolate the problem. So far, so good.

It works, protects my house circuit
Tested on a known dodgy garden circuit. Damp has gotten into one of the outside boxes, and had been tripping my MCB in the house - taking all of the house sockets down with it. So I put a plug on the garden circuit and passed it through this RCD adaptor. Now it sparks and trips beautifully every time I put the plug in. The garden circuit now never works, but the MCB in the house consumer unit never trips. Instead this RCD unit trips out first which is great. It's doing exactly what it's supposed to do.I did spend hours searching for a mini MCB/RCD unit but it does not exist. Only these ones advertised as RCD. I do not think the dodgy circuit is leaking to ground, because the RCD in my consumer unit didn't trip - it was the MCB which was tripping. So I think there is a live-neutral short in the garden circuit, but the good news is that this unit (advertised as RCD only) seems to be detecting that short as well.
