Wally Sensor for Smart Detection of Water Leaks, Freezing, Mold Conditions and Open/Close Monitoring (1)

Simply put, Wally is the best home monitoring system on the market. Period. I've tried systems from D-Link, Accu-Rite, and others. All work OK, but no other system has as many capabilities (temperature, humidity, water leak, and open/close for doors and windows) all with one sensor. And no other product offers Wally's ease of use. The phone app and website offer great detail and easy customization, and the system has proved to be extremely reliable for me when it comes to pushing alerts regarding problems. The Wally system has saved me from major problems over the past few years by alerting me to issues (water leak in the basement from a clogged AC drain, furnace failure during the winter when I was on vacation, etc.). Great system. Best on market. Super wise investment. Low cost prevention beats after-the-fact insurance. [Feb 2019: Unfortunately Wally Labs, which is owned by Sears Holdings, has been caught up in the Sears bankruptcy debacle. I really really really hope that Wally gets spun off to a new owners (hey, Amazon and Google, are you listening?) so this product line will continue to evolve. The Wally system beats everything else on the market today by a mile and would make a great complement to the Nest or Ring home security/automation lines.]

Press a button to connect the hub to the internet, press a button to connect the sensor to the hub. Voila! You must have internet service to connect the hub, the sensors do not use wifi, they use your house wiring as an antenna to connect to the hub. The hub can support 32 sensors, more if you contact Wallyhome for the solution. The hub has a battery backup, the sensors notify you if they are at low voltage. You are notified if a sensor loses connection to the hub, you are notified if the hub loses power. I tested a sensor by getting the contacts wet, within two seconds I received an email, a text and a phone call. When I acknowledged the fault another message was sent to me and my emergency contacts that I had answered the message and was correcting the problem. After I dried the sensor, about 15 minutes later another message was blasted to all that the problem was corrected. Includes magnet to sense open/closed windows or doors.

I do have to say the set up was extremely easy and the sensors tested out quickly when subjected to very low levels of moisture near the probes.2 out 3 sensors failed and went offline within 3 days. Did call tech-support spent over an hour on the line with a guy he was doing his best to help and was very polite , but he couldn't come up with a solution and he sent off a ticket to research . Of course this is a remote sensing application so it's not like you can go there and just reset devices it needs to be a bit more robust to really meet the stated goals .

I couldn't say more about this sensor. I checked out several on the market and this one seemed to beat them all for the price and ease of use. Extremely easy to set-up. It took me about 5 minutes and done. This is the second sensor purchased for my Wally system. I plan on buying more sensors.FOLLOW-UP AFTER 3 MONTHS: I have totally changed my mind on Wally from my initial review. The sensors do NOT last. They have not even gone off so it can't be because of use. I have had 2 fail to-date only after 3 months. They first give a low battery reading only to change the batteries and discover the sensors have gone bad. After going through the product support pages at their website, they don't even have anything on how to the change the batteries and how to clear the low battery warning on the app. Seriously. What a joke for product support. You click on battery and all you get is an ad-like screen offering no support. Don't waste your money. FAIL!

for $35 you would think they would include better batteries!only lasted a couple of days and I had to put in new ones.otherwise product functions as advertised.

This system does more, but the leak detection is why I purchased it - it only takes a little water to do a lot of damage, and now I have a detector in all the high risk places - under the washing machine; at the bottom of the hot water heater and under the sink in the kitchen. Alerts to my iPhone if anything detected. Don't understand why this product is not more well known.
