I know this is a copy of some other brand, but price was enticing. Checked tri square and rafter square and they were square. 45Deg. angles are right too. I am not a pro, so these will fill my needs for accuracy with the frequency I would be using them. Printing is legible, items have a nice feel especially considering the price. So for me, this was an excellent value. If I was a full time carpenter, the tri-square is somewhat light construction for full time work abuse, but for the DYI guy, these tools are good for their purpose.

I have been using the same combination square for years. It is a Stanley, and I very much like it. When I saw this one, I decided that I would like a second square the would live on my workbench, and keep the Stanley with the carpentry tools.This square does what it is supposed to. It is square, and it adjust smoothly enough. The ruler is 3/16ths in thick compared to the Stanley which is 1/8th. That's 50% thicker. The handle on this square is much thicker than the Stanley, and the edges are rounded. This one is also a bit heavier than the Stanley. For me, the thicker ruler makes it harder to see the line I am marking or lining the square up with. The rounded edges on the square make it harder for me to "feel" that the handle is flush with the edge I am squaring up to. Also, the ruler has a "sparkly" finish to it. This makes is a little harder to line it up to small marks. The fact that I like the Stanley much better is the result of a lot of personal preferences, and doesn't speak to the quality of this square.I will note that this square has a spring loaded ball in the handle that goes into small holes in the ruler at one inch increments. This allows you to set up the ruler to full inch lengths quickly. This is a clever little add on.

Seems like a nice combo square, but what are the detents for? They snap in at each inch, but the area of the black part to where you’d measure from is approx 3/8 from the detent. So practically, you have detents that measure every inch on 3/8 intervals, pretty useless. Also, the slop in the detents is about 1/8”, so even if they were properly aligned, they’d still be useless. Just makes you have to loosen the adjustment more each time you move it to push past the useless detents. Terrible design.

This is a nice, easy-to-adjust combo square with preset holes every inch along its length to make it easy to set to the inch increments (or to use it to draw circles, if you've got a pencil tip that can fit through one of those holes!) Very useful in the workshop!
