This is a great item to hide money or a trinket in when gifting someone! This interesting intarsia design wooden puzzle box would make an excellent gift for any one of your gift list. The base of this beautiful handmade item has been carved out of real wood, and hollowed out to create a special compartment, designed for storing some small treasured items such as jewelry or money. The lid of this product has been carefully created with pieces of wood of various colors to create the design. The puzzle isn’t terribly difficult but requires the lock piece to be removed before the lid will slide off and give access to the interior compartment. This item is handmade and as such may vary in color or size slightly from the picture. This item is 4.5 inches by 4 inches by 2 inches.

Beak does not look right
I bought this box as a gift for my husband's birthday. Everything except the beak looks great. The beak of mine is pointed down. It's also shorter and wider than a heron's beak. My husband says he loves it but he could just be being polite. I'll try to exchange it for another one. He was very impressed with the variety of color on the lid.Some reviews mentioned that this is not a complex jigsaw box. I didn't buy it for the jigsaw aspect so it's fine. In fact, I would probably like it more if it was just a regular box. As for price, I'm sure I could've bought something cheaper elsewhere but Amazon shopping is so convenient.

Poorly crafted - not at all like the photo
I gave the box a two because it looked nothing like shown in the photo. The beak was pointing in a weird downward position... the bird was bigger and it just did not look like an Egret at all. I returned it. Poorly crafted. I would have kept it if it had looked like the photo in description.

No, it's not an intricately-crafted puzzle box with flawless finishes & finishing.What it is, though, is really lovely -- folk art, of a kind. The different types of wood (all solid, no veneer) all add to the effect, & the box has a nice heft to it, for being fairly small (but exactly as described).I couldn't be happier, & I can't imagine a kid who wouldn't love one of these for a birthday or Christmas gift.
