Old School Is Better
This is EXACTLY what is needed when you have more than one fan on the SAME AC power circuit. I have 2 fans that share the same power. They are 16 feet up - so I don't like to fool with them because of the tall ladder needed and I'm 64. With most of the newer controls at the big box places and all over the web you "teach" the remote to the receiver within a few seconds after you apply main power - BIG PROBLEM when you have two fans on the same power using this type of system - they will both "learn" the same remote - which I don't want. I may want to dim one fan and not the other etc. If you ever have a problem with losing the "teach" say due to a power bump etc you would have to climb up and physically unwire one fan - "teach" the one that is powered then unwire it - re wire the other fan then "teach" it and then rewire the other fan in order to have independent control of each fan - not very user friendly or convenient. This device fixes this - it is OLD SCHOOL - you set some switches and that mates each control to it's matched remote using the same switch settings ( sometimes old school is better) - this is the way most of these fan control things were not that long ago. See you don't need an App to do everything LOL. Now you have independent control and it won't ever have to be "taught" This is EASY to apply- good instructions. I use it with DIMMABLE LED bulbs - works well with no flicker or buzzing etc. Most LED bulbs will not dim 0 to 100% They turn off around 25% dimming setting.

Nice. Simple. Functional. Good Unit.
This remote "circuitry" was just what I was looking for. An easy way to add a remote to a manually-activated (Pull chain light/fan speed) ceiling fan with its existing light kit. (Not LEDs)In my application, the fan was installed in the center of a vinyl soffit ceiling of a screened porch, with a master AC wall switch just inside the doorway of our living room.I actually placed the controller module above the ceiling, slid it through the cutout hole tucked in a plastic bag (in case of moisture reaching it when washing the porch etc.). It was positioned to intercept the AC feed to the fan. This was easily done by inserting it electrically between its wall switch and the fan itself - using the typical wire nut connections. After re-hanging the fan and all the associated parts, installing the 9v battery, and sliding the "dip switch" inside the remote batt compartment to " Dim" - it all worked perfectly. It has its 3 fan speeds, incadesent light full range dimming, and complete ON/OFF control - as advertised.I used the bottom screw of the wall switchplate (of the existing AC wall-switch) to mout the included cradle for the remote. So it hangs right over its associated power switch, for a quick "grab" anytime you need it.This is a nice simple adaptation kit with fairly good instructions. I recommend it for all DIY peeps.

Short version: I love this remote!... Ok, love is a s strong word, but more than just like. The base unit fits in my old fan base. I am including some pictures with my measuring tape for reference. It should fit well in most fan bases. It's designed to fit, and unless you have some weird ultra small base, it will go in the base of your fan.Details:The Good:It is small enough to fit most fan bases. It has dip switches, so you can have several fans controlled by different remotes, or have one remote for multiple fans.It uses radio frequencies, so there's no need for line of sight.Base controller is fully hidden, so looks don't matterThe controller has buttons that DIM your lights!!! Hold the button down for dimmer activation3 buttons for fan speedOn/Off buttons for both lights and fan.The neutral:The instructions say that you should attach the unit to a switch controlled fan. You don't really need to have a switch and could have it directly to a hot-all-the-time line, BUT if you are on a switch, and use it, the unit forgets the last setting. When You turn the switch back on, you need to use the remote to turn on lights/fan. Lights will be at brightest setting, not where you dimmed to last. This serves as a "reset" of sorts. No button for full brightness on the remote. Once dimmed, you have to hold the button down to brightness desired.Uses 9V battery in remoteThe bad:If you lose the remote, no way to control your lights, even if your fan is attached to a wall switch. Will definitively buy more

Works as described - no more pull chains!
General install is easy enough, and the light control is great! Directions aren't very good but if you have any electrical knowledge you'll understand fast enough. One of the fans is switched and the light setting "sticks" even when killing power via the switch to the control unit which was a nice surprise.Basically it works like this:2 hot leads in your fan, one for the light, one for the motor.Take the hot that used to go directly to them, run it to the controller marked for supply (red)White supply to white on same side as hot supply.White out to white for fan and light.Black out to the fanBlue out to the lightIn my case there was a black and a black w/white stripe in the fan (tied together) to the house current (hot). I think the white stripe was for the light but it depends on how it was wired so just trace it through the fan stalk (disconnect the light off the bottom and see what's in there, should trace all the way through the "stalk" to the top in the canopy). The colors on the controller and the colors in the directions don't match, but it's marked on the controller which lead is which, so like I said anyone with any electrical experience can figure it out.I saw one almost identical to this at the big box store with a brand name on it, but it cost about $40. Looked exactly the same except maybe the color.Fit in the canopy was tricky at first, and the first one I did (I have two) took me a while to figure out how to get it in there - FWIW these are flush mount fans (Hunter), not hanging.Don't forget to set the codes!
