Great reel and arrived as expected but I expected it to turn up in 4 days and after I ordered it, it then said it was expected to arrive 30 days later. I was patient and waited for it to arrive and when it did. And times it did turn up the seller lowered the price from £178 to £127 and I paid full price and brought 2. Being patient obviously isn't appreciated.

As you can see in the picture I have a few models to compare. The VII is a very smooth operation, has a very strong bail arm spring, and most importantly the line leaves the reel without any noticeable binding so avoids the tangles and “wind knots” on repeated plug casts. I think my Spinner V runs a bit rough compared to this and definitely knots up at times, especially without a swivel. This is noticeably more like the Slammer casting. The VII has a new line clip which seems effective although the older buttons were ok too. Maybe some overthinking but it works. The crank is a typical Penn handle and does a good job letting you pace your retrieve while maintaining a solid feel for feedback. What can I say about the seals? I don’t know yet, it needs some miles on it to evaluate along the way. FIVE STARS it’s a winner 🏆

This SSVii 5500 is replacing an old workhorse in my stable. If it is 75% as good as my old one its well worth the money. The new features and waterproofing are a bonus, and this is the smoothest Spinfisher that I have owned. These reels are not known to be the smoothest operating reels. They are saltwater utility machines that never fail. and hold up to continuous exposure and use in a hostile environment. The sealed drag is butter, and the Brass gears superb. Very pleased with this new model.
