A comprehensive history and maps with information in stages for walking the sandstone trail, a great paper backup for any hiking app you are using.

I'm in the middle of writing a guide to the places along and around the Sandstone Trail (online) and I thought I would have a look at a few other guides. This one is great. It is small enough to fit in a pocket, but detailed enough for everyday use and contains useful maps. The historical photo's are well selected and larger versions of many of them, as well as some more background can be found on the accompanying website. Breaking the Trail up into small sections means that you don't have to do the whole 34 mile slog.

Useful guide to sort out days to walk and places to see. Only downside would have been good on public transport as hoping to do this over several days.

This book is a useful guide to the trail. It supplements the official walk leaflet and gives lots of interesting information about the history of Cheshire and the things you can see while walking. It divides up the sections of the trail slightly differently to the downloadable leaflet and is very helpful when deciding where to stop and start if you are doing it in several sections over a number of different outings as I did.

Great book for exploring the sandstone trail with OS maps and lots of information / historical facts along the way with easy directions. Small enough to carry in a coat pocket. Would recommend.
