Loud ear piercing alarm
The day I walked my two Shorkies down the street, one of my neighborsā dogs (pit bull) jumped over its fence and stood facing us from other side of the street, I didnāt have anything to ward off so I stood there silently with my dogs hoping that the owner would retrieve it. Well, this dog decided to dart towards one of my dogs, brushing her side past her, Iāve lost it screamed with all my might and the owner ran outside to retrieve her dog. Whew!! I was shaken all over wishing that I had something like this alarm so I ordered it that day! When the alarm arrived, we tested it, my, my, my! Within just a fraction of a second the alarm sound pierced my ear, alright! My husband was able to sound the alarm towards guard dogs causing them to back away fearfully that day and it didnāt hurt my husbandās ears because he is profoundly deaf! Thank you for this product!

Needs a better way to carry it.
Very effective against dogs. I would have given it 5 stars if the unit had a belt clip or holster.

I can testify that it CAN work
I'm just back from a walk around the deserted campus across the highway from my neighborhood. Once I make it to campus, I let my guard up a bit since hardly anyone is around except for landscapers tooling around and making a blasted racket with their machines and dumping huge barrels of pesticides and God knows what on flower beds (Why?). But they are easily avoided. The tricky part is getting through my neighborhood. I have four dogs, and one of them is a new rescue pitbull who wants to play with every dog that she sees. Most of the time it turns nasty with her locking onto a throat or some other vital part. The result? Panicked howls. Today I was about 5 houses down, and there were two utterly gorgeous pups running around loose. The yard they were in is shielded from view by a line of tall redbud hedges. No chance to spot them and to try to avoid the area. There they were. And Lucy Loo, the new rescue, was keen to check both the dogs out. (So was I, but it was not the ideal time for that. A brindled pitbull and one white with a black saddle. Beauties!) Dogs being dogs, the rest of the pack decided to go along with her. Everybody seemed unanimous about meeting these dogs. I got dragged into a mossy, muddy, wet ditch, glasses went flying, but I held by putting my feet on the opposite bank. The beauties were a little timid, but they decided they were going to have a go, despite my loud pleading. But aha! I had this protection device in my pants pocket (the strap system is right crap). I took it out and pressed. And kept pressing. Pup one looked at pup two and headed for parts unknown. I got up, muddied but unbowed, picked up my glasses and readjusted the arms, put them on and continued on my way.I can't say this device will work every time and in every situation. Each dog is different. Some are stubborn and bold; others will take flight at the least sign of anything wrong or out of the ordinary. These two beauties left me and the pack to ourselves. In this case it worked. Don't get upset with the strap method. It is, as said, right crap. Multiple dog owners, put this device in your pocket and feel secure. Just don't blame me if it doesn't always work. I give you a true account. That's all.

complete rubbish
I used the dog horn twice and carried it in a cloth bag in my rain coat pocket in mild rainy weather and went to use it to check it was working ok and it made a fizzling sound and then stopped altogether. The product is meant to be used strapped to your arm and therefore you would think it would have to be shower proof, well it's obviously not , I cannot afford to send it back to the USA from New Zealand as it has already cost $100 NZ dollars to buy it and get it here. I have a similar device I bought locally for just $9 dollars and it has been strapped around my neck through all sorts of weather for over a year is is still going fine, just thought the dog horn may be a bit louder and help with aggressive dogs , but know it is rubbish and not worth buying.Totally disappointing. Obviously a very cheap faulty product. If you have a conscience send me a replacement please, it would help to know you back your products, also being a serious safety device it should be fool proof.

Poor design for secure attachment for bike riders.
Like:.Smaller size, as I was looking for something less obtrusive as a replacement for the larger horn like version I attach to the handle bars of my road bike. Has worked well on many occasions as a deterrent - where I needed that "few extra seconds" to get by that obnoxious barking, snipping, chasing dog.Dislike.The "plastic loop" on back that hold the Velcro straps -(the only means to actually attach device to the bike) BROKE immediately. š£. Weak and poor design for attaching to bike......so I recommend looking elsewhere if your looking for something more road bike friendly...and somerhing that attaches in a way that leaves device secure yet accessible when needed.

Excellent warning that Iām not playinā
This alarm is LOUD and easy to test periodically for functionality. My 7 pound dog got attacked while he was walking on his leash by a 70 pound leashless dog (before I owned this). After a $150 vet bill and 2 weeks wearing the cone of shame, I vowed to protect him in the future. I use 2 levels of protection, with the first being this alarm, and the second being a 3-foot pipe. If an aggressive dog keeps coming after using this alarm, then at least I know itās a fight (and the other dog isnāt just curious or is playing).

100% effective -- so far
I walk my dog twice daily. A week ago my 35# dog was attacked twice by a 70# German Shepard while I stood by helplessly (no one was hurt as the owner was able to quickly stop his dog). I just received my Sound Defense device and have carried it with me since. Last night, an 80# boxer attacked us and immediately upon pressing a short horn blast the dog stopped his aggression and turned tail. Now, we'll be ready for the German Shepard. I feel empowered and like what this well-made high performance tool will do for us.
