A dictionary of the great modern architects. A small article about each one of them with the key ideas and, as import, with great and big photographs. You can't understand architecture without see it and you probably won't be able to visit the work of most of the names in this book, that is why it's size (big!) is a plus. You wouldn't expect less from a TASCHEN book and is clearly one that deserve that quality label.

Great book and fantastic price. Was a little dusty when we received it which wouldn't have been a problem if it wasn't a birthday present for someone!

As others have stated this is a basic introduction to this subject. It uses stock photographs and the text only provides the briefest of overviews of the individual, school or organisation being discussed. To my mind there are some minor omissions - Berg, for example. However, I must stress that these are not serious concerns. This is a mighty tome that contains much to enlighten and entertain. It will certainly serve as a spur towards further exploration. As with all Taschen publications in this price range, you get a lot of bang for your buck and the print and photographic reproduction is of a quality that ensures that this is a genuine bargain. Recommended.

This is tremendous value for 2 large detailed books on architecture, the photographs and background are the best I have seen for anything of like this. Highly recommended, something you will treasure.

It's a good starting point for finding architects, companies and movements which you may decide to do further reading on. Also quite a smartly presented box set. Definitely good value for money.

Damaged and I ugently need an undamaged one as a birthday present for my daughter
