They gave you that feelin'...if you've got your buddies with you, you're invincible.
That's what Ennis and McCrea did. The Boys has some good moments, and Preacher is fairly consistent, but in my opinion, Hitman is Ennis at his best: some dumb stuff, some crass stuff, but overall a fantastic series in which his writing shows the best of humanity in the worst of us. Loyalty, family, honor, and yeah, even heroism, are ever present in the meatheads and killers parked at Noonan's Sleazy Bar.What about the art? Excellently done by McCrea, who brings Tommy, Natt, Pat, Sean, Ringo, Hacken, Tiegel, Sixpack, Baytor, and all the others to life. Plus the omni has new cover art, by McCrea, that gives you a hint at some of the stories inside. Sixpack--his little hat! A page of BLAMS for a certain night at the Gotham City Aquarium...do seals usually have red eyes? The inks (McCrea, then Leach) along with the colors (Feeny/Heroic Age), give a moody darkness to a lot of scenes that might bring to mind Mignola's Hellboy. And one thing I'd like to note: for all the shooting and vulgarity, Hitman is nearly as pure as a comic set in the main "world" of one of the Big Two can be.I don't know how they--Ennis, McCrea, their agents, whoever!--managed the legal side of things, but Hitman has basically:-been untouched by all the corporate doublespeak that comes with maintaining the brand image-avoided the multiverse garbage where everyone being everything means nothing really matters-not yet, and I pray hopefully never, been ruined by some Hollywood hotshot stripping out its soul for mass audiences-not yet been written by some tertiary writer trying to put a stamp (or the heel of their boot...) on the characters with their own silly fan-fictionCan you believe it? When we get omni 2, you'll see the primary team of Ennis and McCrea on basically every issue of the series (I think Hitman/Lobo is the only exception, pencils by Doug Mahnke). What you see is what you get, a complete series with a definite beginning, some ups, downs, and crazy moments in the middle, and a beautiful, bittersweet end.So, all in all, do yourself a favor. Read Hitman, if you haven't already. Read it again, if you already have.Because--in the words of Hacken, set down by Ennis and laid out by McCrea--it might be stupid, really. But it sure is a great feelin'.

Tommy Monaghan is The Terminator meets Hellblazer set in Gotham City!
I just Finished Hitman Omnibus volume 1 by Garth Ennis& John McCrae…I Absolutely loved this omnibus!! Hitman was so damn awesome it had literally everything I love! From that Tommy Looks like The Terminator,he feels like an American version of Constantine(all the grittiness, always at a bar and deals with supernatural stuff)and it’s set in Gotham city!also you can already see that Ennis is gonna write top notch War Comics from a few different stories in this omnibus.Loved all the homage to John Woo Two Gun Hong Kong movies. Also it has one particular badass story that is a Tribute to Clint Eastwood and all his spaghetti westerns films!(i absolutely love spaghetti westerns)Anyone that knows me knows that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Clint Eastwood are my all time favorite actors and biggest heroes to me since I was a kid(Hitman looks like both).only one that tops them is my comic hero Batman…This is set in Gotham Freaking City did I tell you that yet?! After waiting to read this for over 10 years I would say it is well worth the wait! It’s like Garth Ennis and John McCrea went inside my brain with telepathy (hehe)blended everything I love and made this comic specifically just for me! Easy 5 stars!! Can’t wait till we get volume 2.who knows ..this might actually be the comic series to dethrone my fav comic Run Preacher.Dont walk RUN to go buy this omnibus NOW!!It is a Guaranteed Super Fun Time.

Great and Funny
Truly a great comic series. If you love Punisher MAX or Preacher or anything written by Garth Ennis in particular, this series is for you. Hitman is a lighter Punisher for DC Comics. I love the fact that he doesn't rely on his powers all the time but his own skill as a hitman even if he doesn't get many contracts as the only job he takes are only against bad superpeople. Still the random things that happen during his adventures, and they are a lot, are hilarious. If you love Garth Ennis works this is a comic for you.
