Not necessarily 5-stars - must read below
This is used to prevent the growth of grassy weeds right after the seeds germinate but before they emerge.Do not use it to control annual grassy weeds. This (and pretty much nothing else) will kill annual grassy weeds in your lawn. Annual grassy weeds like tall bunching fescue must be dug out.I used this for crabgrass.Crabgrass germinates when soil temperatures rise to 50 to 55 degrees F for several days (5 to 7 days). You can't possibly know the soil temps until/unless you get a thermometer. I would strongly suggest you do this. This product must be watered in. Apply before rain, or water it in with a sprinkler. This product will linger in the soil for a few weeks, and will gradually break down. If you have stubborn crabgrass, you may need to apply twice, a few (5 to 10) weeks apart. You must know that this product is a package of 4 packets. Each packet is 5 ounces. The packets are water soluble. You absolutely must agitate (mix) this chemical for at least 10 minutes. Time it. Don't guess. Agitate for at least 10 minutes. If you don't do that, undissolved particles will fall to the bottom or your tank. This means whatever you're spraying will not be the proper mixture.A single 5-ounce packet is typically mixed in something like a 25 gallon spray tank. If you are a homeowner and want to mix this in a small hose end sprayer, you will not be able to do it. A single 5-ounce packet will treat roughly 1/2 to 2/3 acre depending on your geographic location (warm versus cool weather lawns) and program you wish to use. So if you are an average homeowner with a 5,000 to 10,000 square foot lot, you will have a lot of this product leftover. That's what happened to me, and I had to take several gallons of leftover product to the local environmental disposal center. Do not dump it down the drain. Please, please, please don't dump this product down the storm drain or your home drain. It does damage to water ecosystems. If you want to apply this product in a hose end sprayer and you have an average sized lot (5,000 to 10,000 square feet), then I would not recommend purchasing these 5-ounce packets. Buy the liquid form that you can mix in smaller quantities. This stuff works great for crabgrass prevention when you apply it as directed, when you apply it at the right time, and when you apply it followed by watering it in. If you don't do all three of those things, it may not work.Read the product label. If you can't understand the product label, then please don't use the product.

WBS = Water Soluble Bags (Not what I expected)
Product is what it says it is, and it works beautifully. PLEASE NOTE: WSB means water soluble bags. Each bag makes way more than the average person needs and it is extremely dangerous to open the bags and attempt at making only a few gallons of herbicide.

It works!... 5 Packets in each Bag
First of all, there are 5 large packets in each bag. My 1/4 Acre lot will only require about 1 packet in 2 years, so this is great to split with a buddy or neighbor. The past 2 years, crabgrass, clover, and other weeds were crazy in July, but I am pleased to say that a single application in the early spring has cut down the crab grass at least 60%. I probably need to use marking dye and better apply next year.If opening the bags, be very careful, the powdered product is very light and will blow all over the place. Also, the packets are water soluble bags, so store them in a very dry place, sealed, ideally with desiccant.

Great Product
All I can say is that this thing really works. I have tried a lot of other stuff for yars and none of them were able to solve my Crabgrass iddues and other weeds.

Keeps stickers away
We live in a rural area in Texas and apply this once or twice a year. There were lots of stickers here whenever we moved in but now we almost never find them. Our yard is safe for our doggies and the humans who are bold enough to run around out back with no shoes. This is the only product that has ever worked for us preventing sticker burrs!

Diptheria works for me!
Diptheria along with Barricade DG used as a 1-2 punch this late winter, early spring has resulted in 0 visible weed germination so far. The rest of my neighborhood is already covered in clover and every other thing imaginable. So I'm very happy with this product so far.

Careful opening the bag
Beware of the packaging of this product. I knew there were self dissolving packages in the larger bag but did not expect a big cloud of baby powder-like dithiopyr to exit the bag rapidly upon cutting it open. Do not cut the bag open in a closed area. This product is a fine powder and went everywhere.

Not for a novice.
I found it very difficult to determine the mix ratio, the instructions were not clear as to how much water to mix with the chemical. I finally found a test amount and tried it. I am starting to see results, but it has been out for almost three weeks. Given what I know now, I would not have tried this product. I don’t blame the product so much as my like of experience in the use of such products. Also it deals in acres and I only have a half acre. The instruction are not written for a novice.
