It’s not strong. At all. Not even a bit.
I brought this umbrella after reading the good reviews but before you buy here’s my opinion, It is a nice looking umbrella, but it’s not strong at all. It was for my daughter for school and she said it turns inside out at the slightest breeze. If it can’t cope in a drizzle in August it’s going to need to be replaced before the really bad weather starts. Feel ripped off, it wasn’t cheap.

The VONDAVO Travel Umbrella is the best umbrella I have ever owned
The VONDAVO Travel Umbrella is the best umbrella I have ever owned. It is beautifully designed and suitable for business and events as well as travelling. It looks very smart and robust. It is sturdy and sleek. The fibreglass ribs make this umbrella very strong and reliable. Yet, they do not add unnecessary weight and they allow for the umbrella to spring open and retract very smoothly. The catch mechanism is sound, there is no faffing about trying to open or close the umbrella and, unlike other umbrellas, when it is up, it stays up and when you want to retract it, it retracts with great ease. The pouch is compact and tidy. The looped handle makes for convenience hanging the umbrella, whether for swift access or to dry it out after rainfall. The umbrella dries out very quickly, probably due to the strong, smooth fabric. When fully retracted, the umbrella fits snugly into a briefcase, small holdall or bag. This gender-neutral product is suitable for anybody who wants to keep dry or cool in harsh sunshine. My household has two of these now. For its quality, it is remarkably lightweight but stands-up to harsh wind and rainfall. The seller posted the VONDAVO umbrella promptly and it is exactly as described. I am very satisfied with the product and with the exemplary customer care and service. For its quality, this umbrella is excellent value for money. It arrived packed firmly in strong, protective, 100% recyclable packaging. Highest Recommendation: sound, professional, honest, trustworthy, and reliable - 100% Customer Satisfaction. 10/ 10 * * * * * * * * * *

Not as advertised
This was a present, and hadn't been used until a few days ago. Firstly, the umbrella is NOT windproof, as stated in the description. In fact, because of the very flexible fibreglass frame, it is worse in wind than an ordinary metal framed umbrella, constantly blowing inside out in even a light wind, and is unusable in stronger winds. It is reasonably well made overall, but as rain is often accompanied by wind, the lack of wind vents in the canopy, and its flexibility, renders it useless in my opinion. I would send it back, but can't now as it has been used.

A robust brolly
It looks quite stylish with its red struts. The struts are a combination of fiberglass, metal rods and springs. My brolly survived an impressive howling wind which would have snapped my typical "around a tenner" brollies. The wind was so strong it did make my brolly invert and a red internal cable popped out of somewhere. I thought "oh no!" but I closed the brolly back down, opened it up and all was good again. It has a button that opens the brolly. It's mightily sprung loaded and opens in a flash, so I'd highly suggest holding both the handle and brolly part and letting it out gently, to prolong the life of it.The tip of the brolly is flat so stands upright in it's closed-but-not-wrapped-up position, meaning it can air and dry on the door mat. The flat cap is screw-in and holds down a ring of buffer material, presumably to prevent chafing the canopy when opening/closing - nice attention to detail. Just check the cap is screwed in nicely but not too tight. The handle is knurled but could be a little grippier - it's a hard plastic. But it's a nice size that fits inside my palm and my thumb naturally holds it in. The handle is oval rather than round, so fits rather nicely. Some brollies have tiny handles which hurt when battling the elements - this seems just about right. It also has a wrist loop should you want to tether yourself to it.No brolly can stand up to extreme gale force winds (not in this price range, anyways) so there have been times walking down narrow London streets that are renowned to channel wind that I've decided to close my brolly, but it can take more of a beating than my previous ones. I've seen other brollies snap and disintegrate while mine remained intact. I felt rather smug and couldn't help but chuckle at their misfortune.I would buy exactly the same if something goes wrong with this one. Recommended.

Great umbrella for my new management promotion
I love this umbrella. I just got a promotion at work which means I have to go out on site to work with suppliers and funders of our projects. I've always had cheap poundshop umbrellas before but it was suggested that I might want to upgrade :)Bought this and just love it. I didn't want just a simple black umbrella and the red piping gives it a bit of colour without it being too girly. Fits in the pocket of my laptop case without a problem. There's a nice solid snap to the umbrella when you press the unfold button and you can feel the quality when you fold it back up.It's a great quality umbrella for professionals.

DO NOT BUY
I was deceived miserably. Initially this appeared the God-send of umbrellas. I praised and worshipped this umbrella for being sturdier than any other. Then to my horror, the tiny metal piece that allows the locking of the umbrella when closed or opened ' pinged ' off right in the middle of a rainstorm with zero wind for no apparent reason under no pressure whatsoever. So we can no longer close or open the umbrella and I was soaked to the bone. It is no longer fit for purpose. I demand a partial refund or a replacement umbrella, if my review is to be more than a 1 star review again.

Unlucky or bad design?
Used it for the second time on Saturday and one of the spokes broke within 2 minutes of using it. There was an average wind, and I noticed people with those ordinary cheap umbrellas didn't have inverted umbrellas. Not impressed at all.Shame as it looks so smart and strong
