BOOKWORM REVIEW: The Gossip and the Grump by Pippa Grant
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5SPICE: 🔥🔥This series seems to be the gift that keeps on giving, and I am here for it."Duke" and "Duchess" were two individuals searching for some emotional refuge while in Hawaii. In fact, Duchess came to his rescue when unwanted attention refused to take a hint. An instant connection was formed that led to more spicy activities.Duchess AKA Sabrina ghosts her mysterious one-night stand and heads back to her small town. There she has to deal with the fallout of the Hawaiian wedding that never happened between her best friend Emma and cousin Chandler. Emma jilted her groom-to-be after she found out that Chandler was responsible for her brother going to jail when they were younger. Sabrina has carried this secret with her for a long time, and Emma was upset that Sabrina did not come clean. To add insult to injury, her evil cousin Chandler sold her family's cafe..and her new boss is coming to town.It turns out the new man-in-charge is her mysterious Hawaiian fling, and Greyson is not too pleased with her. But he is not letting the woman who has captured his attention distract him from completing his mission: to make Chandler pay. Buying his family's cafe was step one, and destroying it was step two. Unfortunately, Sabrina is standing in his way and he cannot seem to resist her. This read was brilliant! I love the great balance of comedy, tension, romance, and small-town love. The chemistry between Greyson and Sabrina was immediate, and it just continued building organically as we read through. The spice was not as predominant as I would have liked, but that takes so little from the overall read.I adore the community they have in Snaggletooth. The side characters create so much fun for the read, and they are so endearing (except for Chandler) that you will absolutely want the best for them. This is the second book in the series, and while characters from the previous book do play a significant role, this can be read as a standalone.Whatever you do, DO NOT SLEEP ON THE EPILOGUE. It is hilarious and fantastic.

Grey and Sabrina
This book was not the typical Pippa Grant romcom I was expecting. I honestly felt kind of sad reading it. It was a great plot and very well written, but it touched on some subjects that were very personal to me. It was a book about finding where you fit in and finding what will make things right for you, individually. It was about misplaced guilt and feeling like the black sheep in the family that is only important on their terms. There were still some humorous moments, but the book as a whole had a different tone.Grey and Sabrina met in Hawaii and had a one night stand that neither of them could forget. A few weeks later, they both found they were more connected than they thought when it turns out Grey is the one who bought Sabrina’s family cafe. He has a plan to turn it into a Kombucha shop and completely remove all trace of the old cafe in a revenge plot against Sabrina’s cousin Chandler who wronged Grey in college.Because of his plans with the cafe, Grey and Sabrina are at odds. They both find it hard to trust each other while still being attracted to each other as they were in Hawaii. There are a few twists and the town steps up to help save the cafe, but in a “kill him with kindness” kind of way. I loved the reconciliation of Sabrina and her best friends. It was important to the plot and helped find an alternative way for Grey to get his justice.I loved the ending. I loved how both Grey and Sabrina got what they needed and didn’t really have to sacrifice for it to happen. I loved the justice Grey got in every avenue of his life and the way Sabrina stood by him and was ready to give up her own dream to show Grey how much he meant to her. While this was definitely different from her other books, I enjoyed it immensely.

great book
This was such a fun book. I couldn’t put it down. I loved all the characters in it and how they were all bonded together. Will probable read it again, and again. Makes me happy.

Revenge is sweeter
Grey buys a Cafe for revenge against Chandler but in the end Grey seeks a different revenge to get back the company taken from him. He rights everything with Sabrina since he realizes he wants to come to terms and have a relationship with her. I love the plots and how a small town looks after everyone.

Could’ve been much shorter
The first and last quarters of the book were entertaining. I especially loved the first part in Hawaii. However the larger chunk of the book was so tedious to read. The author can be funny but sometimes it’s just too verbose and I was getting a bit annoyed while reading it. This could’ve easily been edited down by 20% and been a really enjoyable book. Unfortunately just a bit too repetitive and a little too much “it’s my fault, she hates me” - more so than needed. And the overly detailed gossip on small characters was actually boring to read. Skimmed through most of it to get to more meaty parts.I enjoyed Theo and Laney’s story and storytelling better.

Good deeds!!
Such a great love to come out of a great viral video tragedy. These two found each other when they needed to and then found each other again.I laughed throughout this one a few times. I also swooned a bit too. I can't wait to read more about this group of friends.

Too long
In the starting story was nice and interesting. But slowly it's feel like never ending story too much dragged.I finished the story by skipping few pages because I wanted to finish it.

Using of plural for single person very unnerving
Pippa Grant ist my favourite author, but I will never enjoy reading books with the use of gender-neutral third-person pronouns

Back to Snaggletooth Creek
If book 1 gave us Theo and Laney's story, this one takes us back to Snaggletooth Creek, where we find out who bought the Bean & Nugget and what Sabrina will do to try and keep her family's café.I have to say I was very excited for Sabrina and Grey's story and it did not disappoint! I loved the way their relationship progressed, how the story's also about finding the place where one truly belongs, and how we got to know the Tooth and its inhabitants better. Plus, there were more scenes with the Triplets (which I really enjoyed) and the additions of Zen (and their bond with Grey), Mimi and Jitter (the pup, who completely steals the show in the best way) were also great, and left me wanting more!I loved reading The Gossip and the Grump and can't wait for more fun shenanigans, swoon and spice when we get to read Emma's story next!

My fave couple so far …..
Sabrina Sullivan & Grey Cartwright are my new fave couple in this series!!!!Following on from the wedding disaster in book one, Sabrina is out and about in Hawaii before she heads home when she meets a guy at a bar. They have a connection and a great night but she’s still on a bit of a downer and leaves him without exchanging details.Back home, she knows that she’s gonna end up with a new boss at what used to be the family cafe …. she’s just not expecting who her new boss is!!!!Their initial interaction back in Snaggletooth Creek wasn’t grand, to say the least!!To really get this story in this book fully I think you have to start with The Worst Wedding Date… it explains quite a bit of what goes on in The Gossip & The Grump!Sabrina was the local gossip but following the wedding she’s stopped or is trying not to listen or talk about anything or anyone, but when she talks to Grey, especially about things in town, she does it in code and seeing him work out who’s who was funny! Her gossiping is never nasty and in all honesty she’s kinda hard on herself for a while when it’s not entirely warrented.Grey, yeah, in Snaggletooth Creek and at work he comes across as a real grump but he’s been hurt and used and he’s not in the mind to trust many folk, so finding out the girl from Hawaii is now an employee doesn’t incline him to trust her either…. He’s actually a good guy, cares about those important to him and I liked him more than I expected I would.I loved the connection these two had. There was fun, banter, heat and steam and when you add in great side characters… especially Zen (who made me laugh so often!) & Jitter (crazy lovable fur baby) …. the story was fab.I was a tad annoyed at Emma tbh, especially when she finally spoke with the girls but I’m definitely looking forward to her book and finding out who her person is gonna be!4.75* St Bernard sized stars…..
