Painting Pets on Rocks

An excellent book, as always, by Lin Wellford. I only gave it four stars because most of the subjects in this book I found to be more difficult than her other two books, "Painting Animals on Rocks" and "Painting More Animals on Rocks". You really need to have more artistic ability than just the ability to follow directions and copy them. The fish and guinea pig are the easiest for me. I do love everything Lin Wellford does, but would love to have detailed instructions for different colored rabbits and the hamster. If you have a little more talent than I do, you should certainly buy this book. I enjoyed reading the book and certainly gained more knowledge about painting on rocks. This author is the best! With everything I mentioned, I would still buy the book again.

As in her other books, Lin Wellford's love of animals and painting shines through her work. I enjoy just looking at her photos of her creations, so full of the spirit of the animals she has painted. This book focuses on cats and a variety of breeds of dogs. Rather than being repetitious, there are so many variations that each project presents additional techniques and ideas. Her clarity and easy-to-follow instructions inspire confidence - a "Gee, I can do that!" attitude in even those that doubt their artistic abilities. Although painting on rocks is especially charming (and inexpensive!) these animals can also be used as decorations on other surfaces, such as boxes and glasses. But the multi-dimensional rock painting gives the user a grasp of what is really going on in a way that flat painting doesn't. I only wish she had put in more information about how to paint the chimpanzee, iguanas, hedgehogs and ferrets. (Perhaps next volume) Really a splendid book!

This is a fun gift for children, adults and to have for my personal library. I have purchased other books by this author to give as gifts and they have always been very well received.

I am very pleased with this book. It is very inspiring. I also ordered another book by this same author. I will be ordering some more by this woman. It is very clear to me on the steps you take to finish a painted rock. I have already used a painted cat to go by to paint my own. I would recommend this to anyone wanting some inspiration and how-to,

Great art work! I'm looking forward to doing some fun paining with this amazing book. Unusual slant on painting. Not seen many books on painting rocks like this. This author is a painter in the fullest sense. I will use this book often especially in painting for children. Of all my painting books this is one of my favorites.

I would recommend this book and any other book written and created by Lin Wellford. Lin Wellford is a wonderful artist. In this book, and every book authored by her, there are step-by-step instructions on how to paint. Painting on river rocks is a wonderful craft, and Lin Wellford is the best teacher!
