No longer Two (Family Focal Point)

My (now) wife and I worked through this superb book before we got married. It challenged our thinking on multiple areas of potential marital conflict. We also worked through Wayne Mack's "Strengthening Your Marriage" before we got married, which was superb. However, we found that "No Longer Two" was very practical and helped through some of the nuts and bolts of marriage.

This is an excellent course that I have gone through with couples I have married since 2004. I really recommend it as the best I have seen. That does not mean I endorse every view put forward, but as the book is designed for discussion, the points not agreed with can form a discussion point.I do not like his use of the NKJV and the NIV. I use the KJV as the best English translation and it is interesting he often mentions the KJV rendering and says it is better! It is not really a problem though as the book refers you to the Bible so you can use your own version.Another frustration is that I purchase two copies each time, one for man and one for the woman. I then use a copy I have for my own reference. But since 2004 the book has been revised at least 3 times so I keep having to update my own copy to match that given to the couple! No more updates please!!It does not have to be used as a course. The couple can buy one book and go through it together.

I have purchased 2 copies of this book for my fiancé and I to complete with one of our Senior Pastor and his wife. It's part of the previous marital counselling program of our church.We haven't completed it but so far have loved it!It is important to each have your copy and to be COMMITTED to making it work!You have to take the time apart to do this and read it as you're told in order to reap the full benefits.So far we've enjoyed it, even the most challenging questions and those we'd never even thought about. Having a couple overseeing us whilst coming back on the chapters has created a safe atmosphere where worries can be expressed without feeling "silly" or the fear of an argument.You do also discover a lot about each other during the sessions. Enough to give you food for thoughts before you wed.Recommended to every engaged or Newlyn arrived couples!

Excellent guidance for marriage prep for any Christian. The world would be a better place if everyone prepared with this before they got married. Very quick delivery and in excellent condition. 100% recommend.

A must read for married couples or if you are still engaged, very Bible-centred

Good as a book to read and discuss and launch into other discussions from. Some applications are very precise and dated and from a particular type of Christian culture rather than being obviously bible-based
