Superb. Every guitar should have them - mine all do! Now updated to work with Gibsons.
Every guitar in my collection is fitted with Schaller straplocks, and every guitar I build is supplied with them. That's how much I rate these. I have NEVER had a guitar fall off a strap with Schaller locks.Yes, you need to put the locks on the strap too, so each guitar has its own strap. Big deal. Each guitar hangs differently, so mine all have their own strap anyway. This S-Lock version of the Straplock button eliminates the separate screw and has a larger diameter thread than the old version. This makes it a direct replacement for the stock button on recent Gibsons, which uses a fatter screw than most. It is screwed in with the supplied Allen key so chewing up the screw head, or slipping and scratching the finish is a thing of the past. The strap part is also improved, with a neater nut and integral washer which is less prone to undoing itself - not that any of mine ever did.I'm reviewing the chrome version here, which was a perfect match for the hardware on my 2013 SG Tribute. Gold and nickel finishes are also available.Considering how much a headstock repair costs (and I know EXACTLY how much it costs because I'm a guitar repairer), these straplocks are great value.Buy them, fit them, forget there was ever another way of attaching the strap. This is the ONLY way of securing a strap.

Security with confidence and looks
Came with 2 pairs of different length screws and 2 felt washers. The round anchor pieces attach to the guitar body easily and are good quality material. The strap sections are secured but nut and washer, but on later types have a grub screw. Attachment is by sliding the horseshoe shaped receptacle onto the anchor pieces, and click into place. They can then be released by pulling the centre pin on the strap. Very secure, never had an issue with them, and have them fitted to many expensive guitars, that I don’t want dropping to the floor. The only problem you encounter with all strap locks, is fitting the strap receptacle into the strap hole, which doesn’t seem to be a standard size, so some modification might be required on your strap

Improvement on an industry standard
Further to my earlier review, I've now got a replacement set of S-Locks under warranty (props to Rich Tone Music in the UK; really responsive, and sorted me out in next to no time). Now I've got a working set, I really like them. The thumb wheel is definitely an improvement on the old hex nut, which would work loose occasionally (I used to use a drop of clear nail varnish to hold them on. Not necessary anymore). The longer threads will be useful if you have a thick strap, and the one-piece pins are nicely made. As others have said, the rattle and squeak of the old units is much reduced.I also like that the piston that snaps into place to hold the lock on the strap pin is now bevelled on one side, so it slides into place much easier than before. The new shape pull-up knob for removing the strap is also easier to grab than before.Basically, everything that could do with improvement on the old design has been improved. Whether it's worth spending the money replacing an existing set of strap-locks with these new ones is a matter of debate, but if you're in the market for a set of Schaller strap-locks, you'd be crazy to get the old ones over these.

Shaker strap locks.
Had to make the holes in the strap larger for them to fit. They were too long and the guitar wouldn’t fit in its case. Removed them and fitted much shorter ones so the guitar could fit in its. A Slash Les Paul.

Much improved design over the previous!
There isn't a whole lot to say about this product. What is its value? It's value is the same as your guitar with the old style strap buttons.£200?£1000?£25,000? (Yes, it can be that high)The value of this product is intrinsically linked to your guitar, it'll stop the strap wearing out and slipping off the strap buttons, saving on repair bills and dings/dents/chips.Ease of use?Anyone with a screw driver can fit these, replace the old strap button fitments with the ones included, and put the strap locks on the strap.Improvements over the old design? So, these are held in with nuts that are thumb screwed in rather than the old spanner compatible nut making fitment much easier. Additionally, they don't have the old ball on the end connected to a bolt (You used to lift the ball and it'd unlock the strap from the guitar).I've lost plenty of these little balls, never again! It's a great product and a must for live artists or folks that just want to protect their guitar from accidental strap slippage.I have these on all of my guitars, literally.

Typical top schaller quality
They're schaller, so are naturally a go to option.Yes they may be quite pricey, but its definitely better to spend a bit extra on some decent strap locks than it is for a guitar that could cost hundreds, or thousands more.Top quality as expected, the finish is great, and the material used is just what youd expect. They even come in a very well presented box which would make them an ideal gift to a guitarist friend or they make a nice gift to yourself too!

They feel sturdy and look good.
I purchased these strap locks for my new Pacifica electric guitar and I'm very happy with their quality and effective, functional design. A bit expensive but they do feel solid and secure, so I'd recommend them.

Secure your strap
Beautifully machined components; I chose chrome finish. Feels secure when strap lock is clipped on to the pin. Look forward to many years of worry-free use.
