Wood Carving Knife Set Ships quickly from the USA
It would appear, at least so far, that this set of small bladed various carving knives (12) is indeed an uncommon bargain. The knives arrived with a very nice sharp finish and each with a safety cap. I put them to test on a block of basswood and found the cuts quite clean and easily controlled. Wooden handles attractive and reasonably comfortable. Nice pattern and how-to books on carving offered free to download. A nice touch. I suppose being nit picky, the only thing I'd rather, is a canvas tool roll, rather than the display box. But for the price? I know I'm asking too much. Thank you Sac Awa of Colorado! Best of luck!

I'm going to need more wood!
I rarely do product reviews and don't give 5 stars unless a product or company really stands out. This is one of those exceptions.I've been doing woodworking projects for decades but wanted to try something different like wood carving. This looked like a decent starter set of tools and I was interested in the pattern ebook.I finally received the set (I'm not a Prime member) and have had a chance to play with them a bit. They seem very high quality for the money. Hardwood handles and pretty dang sharp out of the box.The big surprise was when I went to the website to get my pattern ebook and found not one - but numerous ebooks including dogs, flowers, birds and more - see photo. So I transferred a full size lotus flower from one of the books to a chunk of basswood for my first attempt. But based on all the patterns in the other ebooks, I'm going to need more wood!

For the price these tools are excellent.
The tool set provides all of the necessary tools at an affordable price. This is a great set to begin learning to carve without going into debt. The quality to cost ratio is very high.

They are ok but not a steal at this price.
This is definitely a beginner set of carving tools, and with that in mind they are...okay. They did come fairly sharp and if you are practicing on soap or other very soft (non-wood) materials, they are probably pretty solid. The biggest issue I have with them is that the metal is pitted on most of the blades as you can see in the pictures. I'm ok with having to sharpen new carving tools, but these would require a complete rework to remove the imperfections on the edge. Other than using these for soft materials practice, they will probably end up being practice blade sharpening tools, which I'm okay with at this price point. They also include a bunch of downloadable carving plans and reading materials which are basically just clip art and books in the public domain. Not a terrible purchase if you are a complete beginner but keep your expectations realistic.

Great Mid-Size Carving Tools
I want to try wood carving as a new hobby. However, not knowing if I’ll really like it I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on professional grade wood carving chisels. Nor did I want to buy the super cheap small ones that are more suited to wax and soap carving. This set fit the bill perfectly. For the price, they are high quality with hardwood handles, sharp blades and heavy-duty clear caps on each knife. I played with them a bit on a chunk of basswood and they work like a charm. While sharp right out of the box, I found that a few swipes on a wet stone can put a razor’s edge on them. The other reason I bought this set was the free ebooks and tutorials provided on their website – just what I needed to get started.

Shocked at how fragile... not at all robust.
With all the good reviews here, I was surprised my own experience differed so significantly. I had used the tools twice before giving this review. Each time one of them broke during use. The first time it was the spearheaded blade. The tip of the blade snapped off as it was being introduced into the material (zebra wood). It was not at all a violent motion that caused this, and I was quite shocked. The second time, it was a tool that seemed to have worked quite well during the first use, but upon the second use, it snapped off at the base of the blade (right where it meets the handle). As you'd expect out of one of the sets for half the price.Needless to say I am disappointed. Though the blades came fairly sharp, I cannot recommend buying this product if you plan to carve anything harder than basswood or balsa wood, and even then only for light use.

Just what I wanted to start out with.
Neat set for the price paid, feels pretty sturdy, carving tools come with a nice clean edge, they have multiple e-books with patterns you can get access to after purchase. If your new to carving like me and want something that functions and is affordable this is a great set to have.Update: I made a couple of wooden spoons using this set, here is a pic.

Not super sturdy
Worked great for a bit. My son has broken several heads. Might be his technique
