Wanted for hill/mountain trail walking, in Summer. Sole and tread (Vibram) is great. Tough looking shoe with a reinforced rib projecting from the heel towards the toe - offers confidence in it's durability perhaps? Leans towards Ventilation - Maybe at the expense of water-resistance? We shall see. I'm not worried - You know where you are with a Merrell..Ease of ordering, Info, Updates & Service - Superb

I am an 11, but had to order these in 11.5, which is a first for me.It's odd, but even in the size that definitely fits, my tow nail catches something in the shoe. And no I don't have long tow nails and no I haven't had this with any other footwear.I still wear them though, every day and other than that issue they are comfortable. I wouldn't buy them again though.

Fantastically comfortable shoes. Good wide toe-box for those with wider feet.Got a long haul hike in the near future and will add further reviews when done.Update: Right, I have owned these now for over a year and can give a proper opinion.First, they are still the most comfortable hiking shoes I have ever worn. The arch support helps with those long haul hikes. I easily walk 25 miles in a day without any discomfort.Second: They still look good. There is minimal wear & tear. The brown colour I chose helps with this a little I think.Third: I am not a fan of the laces. While they are tough and super super durable, I'd rather have a set that is easier to tie, and keep tied.Overall I am more than satisfied with these shoes, and will definitely get myself another pair when these fall apart (likely not any time soon).

My first pair of Merrells. Seems like a nicely made shoe. Size 7 usually does me good but not with these; had to be 7.5.Not that comfortable straight out of the box for me, but very comfortable now after a month of use except on longer walks when my feet start to ache a little. Maybe they still need to soften a bit.I am disappointed about the lack of grip in the wet. Doesn't feel right at all for this kind of shoe that seems to have a highly regarded Vibram TC5+ sole. Its supposed to be "A high performance sole, providing non-slip qualities, high abrasion resistance and durability." Doesn't make sense. Definitely not non-slip in the wet. I've had much cheaper shoes with much better grip in the wet. Perhaps the toughness of the sole take precedence over being able to grip in the wet? Merrell have some work to do here....... in my view.

These are well made and very comfortable. I normally wear a UK size 12 shoe and following other reviews, that suggested that these are on the small side, ordered a UK size 12.5. This was a good move as they fit just right - I probably could have even gone up a full size, but they are snug, not uncomfortable and are not rubbing in any areas. They look smart, for a casual shoe, and are of good quality. They are not too warm (as I have experienced with other shoes of this type which are waterproof) and when worn recently in 40C heat were still comfortable being worn all day. An excellent product - I'll buy Merrell again rather than going for a cheaper shoe only to regret it.

Several years ago my son, who is in the trade, told me that if I wanted a pair of quality walking trainers I should get a pair of Merrells. I took his advice and this is now my 7th or 8th pair, of which 5 are still in use (sandals, blaze sieve, hiking boots, hiking shwes x2). These are of the usual quality and comfort levels I have come to expect and although Merrells are not cheap IMHO they offer the consistent longevity due to their exceptional design and build.

Good build quality, bad quality control, one shoe bigger at the front to the other one and no, it’s not my feet. Crushed toes, shame as I spent more on these expecting to get a good product. Buyer beware.

Have some Merrell boots that are very comfortable,went for the shoe version and they are just as good
