This is a book with the power of transformation. THis book reached so deep inside me, that since I started reading it, I go over and over again. And I don't usually do that with other books, but this book has such truth and wisdom that I do not wish to miss anything of its understanding. A powerhouse! I strongly recommend it.

Geesh. I REALLY dislike it when a book publisher completely ruins a great book because they do not properly format an ebook. Did ANYBODY at the publishing firm even LOOK at the ebook?!?If reviewed only on the book's content, it would receive 4 or 5 stars.If reviewed on the ebook formatting, it would receive 1 star (or zero stars if I could).Publishers, PLEASE learn how to format an ebook (it really isn't all that difficult) before you release it to the public. It is almost unreadable on anything other than large screens. Incorrect line breaks are the major problem.Buyers, consider purchasing the paperback format until (if) the publisher fixes the formatting issues. If the formatting issues are fixed, I would be happy to upgrade the review to 5 stars.

This book is a marvelous study off early Eastern Christianity through the writings of Alphonse and Rachael Goettmann translated by Theodore and Rebecca Nottingham. It's a spiritual journey without the modern church's trappings and elaborations.

This book is the expression of a profound life of interior prayer. This book brought together years of practice and moved me more deeply into stillness. The Goettmans are master teachers of prayer of the heart.

Great book. This book take me to a place of serenity, peace and understanding that I can't even put into english words.

I found the book to be deep and honest. There is knowledge transmitted in this serious work. For me, it was also engaging.

Unconventional view on Christianity - giving a glimpse of mystical Christianity. Mystical word should not make us feel threatened us but help us see God beyond the temporary narrow boxed perspective of modern western Christianity. I pray God should speak to hearts - not minds - and open them to see Jesus in the present and in every instant and moment of our lives.

This old practice that seemed to get lost within the contemplative practices of the Eastern orthodox churches makes a new revival in France with Goettman. The book makes a good introductory attempt to let us know the benefits of the Jesus prayer for today. Worth a read if your interested in Eastern Christian spirituality. After reading this it might be worthwhile to look at some Fourth Way literature to broaden your knowledge. I suggest starting with the Greek/Armenian mystic Gurdjieff and his followers and then looking at any old Mount Athos literature you can get your hands on.
