Entertaining and slightly provocative...
It was an interesting paranormal world that Ms. Grosso creates...vampires who can eat and drink, walk during the daylight hours, rest or sleep...they're warm and have a heartbeat and they breathe. Leopold Devereoux is the oldest living vampire worldwide. He's 6'4", handsome of course and very powerful. Throughout the story he fights emotions that he'd thought long dead..all because of Laryssa Theriot. Laryssa is a mysterious supernatural completely alone in the world, who hides her powers...she hides in plain view, constantly trying to stay hidden with the help of wards created by her witch friend. She is a rare paranormal being, invoking her powers only when needed to protect herself from danger..constantly trying to blend into the magical backdrop of New Orleans. She can feel the "dark ones" closing in on her...searching for her. She must come out of hiding to save a baby. One that is like her.Ms. Grosso writes an entertaining, slightly provocative paranormal romance of Leopold Devereoux and Laryssa Theriot trying to save a paranormal baby that the dark ones want dead. She takes the reader through the steps of Leopold's guilt and self inflicted loneliness and conveys the awakening of his emotions after 1000 years, as well as his fight to keep them dormant. So many years he's been alone and for the first time in 1000 years, bonding himself to a woman becomes appealing. I loved the beginning of this story and Laryssa's bad@zz character....riding a motorcycle etc. But toward the middle of the book she morphs into a desperate, "wanna have a relationship" clingy girlie girl and my respect for her plummeted. I couldn't figure out with all the controversy and drama happening, with death knocking at her door...WHY she wanted a relationship with a Vampire she just met <smh>. Within one day she's talking relationship with this vampire (Leopold), who walks into her life. It was nuts. She went from tough to teen-whiney and groveling. I don't like groveling women. I never got a visual of Leopold in my head. He just never materialized so I never connected to him. I had to fight to keep my visual of Laryssa. It was real work because Ms. Grosso never reiterates her description. For all Leopold's powerfulness, I couldn't figure out why he never could scent blood whenever Laryssa was wounded. She'd have a gushing wound and he'd never know until he saw her bleeding. He's one weird vampire. Anyway, Laryssa regains some of her backbone by the 2/3's mark of the story.Once the author lays out all the plots puzzle pieces, it's not much of a chore to connect the pieces to solve the mystery. The story is so drawn out that many parts became tedious. The whole vampire party scene could've been completely eliminated. I got the feeling it was added for erotica sake. As Laryssa fights to stay alive from the evil dark ones, trying to complete her mission of life/death to save a baby and find a relic, she and Leopold work on their attraction. It's an ok story, certainly nothing I'll ever reread or continue with the series. The epilogue was all about a secondary character, Dimitri...setting up and introducing his story. The steamy, erotic moments never overpowered the plot. And while I enjoy a good erotic moment, some of these scenes didn't fit. Like the scene on the dock. It was as if the editor told Ms. Grosso to add more steam, and they were inserted haphazardly. There's adult language, but again, not overpowering. The whole story was just way too long.

Very Good!
This book was very good in it's good vs bad plot, many descriptive sex scenes & visits by other characters from the previous books.Leopold, the debonair vampire while visiting another wolf pack comes across a dead woman & a very powerful baby. Once he realizes that the ba y is alive & not only part wolf but also part something else he delivers the baby to Logan & Wynter to look after & keep her safe.Laryssa, has kept a part of herself hidden away for a long time now but when the mystery baby was born she had felt her power because they were in some way related. While she was at a bar/club waiting four her friend Avery to show up she catches the eye of Leopold not knowing that she will be the next person he wants to not only find but also wants to know what she is.This is the beginning of their story.

what ive been waiting for!
Leopold is a thousand year old vampire who is used to everyonedoing what he tells them to do. Returning to New Orleans on the trail of a killer and a mystery about a baby, he crosses paths with Laryssa, an antiques dealer with a secret. When the mystery/baby/killer all converge on Laryssa, she is forced to give into Leopold and his protection, but can they protect themselves from each other?OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH now thats what I've been waiting for! In my reviews for the other four books, I have said I felt something was missing, something I could not put my finger on. I was annoyed that I couldn't find what i wanted, but something kept me reading them and then....BOOM!!I loved Leo in the other books, and Laryssa is a strong willed female who will not listen when told, by Leo, she stands up to him, and Leo is a little perturbed to find he likes it! Leo has some deep dark emotional past, that is hard to read at times, I mean you'd think that after a thousand years the pain would be less, but no, it comes across loud and clear. The attitude Laryssa shows him comes across too, making some laugh out loud moments breaking up the emotional and hot ones. AND boy are they hot! What I particularly liked, is the mix of the language Leo uses, its well defined, and very proper, AND then, he flips and is rude and vulgar and all very well timed so it doesnt seem out of place. You get Logan, Wynter, Luca, Samantha, SYdney and Kade, they all play a part. Dimitri plays a HUGE part in this book, and I loved him and his way with Leopold. It leads very nicely into the next book, too, which is Dimitri's story, and I will be reading that as soon as it comes out!The plot?? is excellent, it moves along, at speed, and a little slow, but its constantly moving, with little hints along to keep you going, you dont get it all in one go. You get introduced to new paranormal beings, too.steam, violence, secrets that could cost lives, this book has it all.Oh one last thing....LOVE the cover, now I've read it! :-) not that I didnt before, but now I know where the red dress fits in the story, and the WHOA steamy dancing...perfect.big jump from 3 stars for book 4 to a full five stars for this one, read in one sitting :-)**AUDIO REVIEW**I won a gifted copy of this in audio!Ryan West narrates. This is the first of his work I have listened to. He has an American twang that is very easy on the ears! His story telling voice is smooth, real smooth, and each character has a clearly definable voice, making it obvious who is talking when. His voices are so much better, clearer, fabulous-er (is that a word? it is now!) that what I heard in my head when I READ this book. If that makes any sense??!!I do love LISTENING to a book I have already READ. I get so much more out of the experience. Second time around, I get the title line, the emotions come across differently, the story grabs me in a slightly altered way. Mr West's narration is excellent. He gives you everything you need to get the full audio experience: love, passion, hatred, pain, distain, every emotion comes across perfectly, clearly and in all the right places. As I said, this is the first I have listened to of Mr West's work, and the first book in this series I have listened to, but I have read them all. Books one through four got 3 and 4 stars, and this book got 5 full and shiny stars.5 full and shiny stars for the narration too!**same worded review will appear on Goodreads, Amazon.com, Audible.co.uk and Amazon.co.uk**

Wow Leopold what Smoothy !!!!!!
I absolutely loved this book and is another great addition to the series, we see great glimpses of KLeopold through out the earlier series and to see him succumb to the power of love like the rest of the gang was adventurous, comical and down right funny at times as he battled the inevitable and of course lost to the great power of his women and mate. This is all centered around how the last book left off where the gang now have to search and discover the way to kill the evil who is threatening all their lives and especially a danger to Leopolds future mate's life, after centuries alone Leopold is willing to fit to the death to stop anyone from taking his mate. This book has everything in a great read, amazing characters, great background scenery, a truely sweet romance story as well some super steamy loving through out which just makes you go all hot under the collar, fabulously written and a pleasure to read. can't wait for the series to continue xxx

Well worth the wait
Leo's book was out standing.Leo is a elder Vamp, with a cold hart, the reason for that comes out in the story, he meets Laryssa in the club and he is very attracted to her, Laryssa is on the run afraid to stay in one place to long, she hold's a secret that she is afraid to tell anyone about it.Leo has to protect her as well as Ava, Dimitri Leo and the rest of the Vamp's and Werewolves are all on high alert to protect them and them selves from what's out there a Darkness that threatens them all.

every woman should have a vampire like leopold in their lives , a man with huge reputation as one of the oldest vampires in new orleans or maybe the world. he doesnt flash his power about just makes sure people know its there . this story is about him falling in love & protecting his mate , one of my fav stories in this series . great sex combined with an old fashioned gentlemanly way to treat a woman

I have loved the whole series s far and this is no different, great story and captivating, Leopold the ancient vampire thought he would never feel love again until Laryssa came along and changed all of that, but he didn't no what she was hiding. He had so save her no matter what, with the help of Dimitri they all managed to stay alive in the end.

Another great read in the Immortals of New Orleans series.
This series is addictive. The stories and characters progress through the series, so you want to know what happens. Although each stands alone, if you read them all, the enjoyment is increased and the author has built a world linking Shifters, vampires, witches and other immortals whilst horror, thriller and sexy romance meld

a good pageturner
I usually give this set of books 5 stars. this I give a 4 as I feel the end was a little rushed. however, saying that I really enjoyed the book and the authors very descriptive 'supernatural filth' as always are top notch. the story captured me from the first chapter and the recurring characters of previous books only enhanced my read. looking forward to book 6.

Leopold's Wicked Embrace (Immortals of New Orleans #5)
Love this series!!!! Leopold appeared in some of the other books and I did not really like him although he was interesting. I have warmed to him a bit but he does not lose his creepiness which is as it should be, vampires are not to be trusted. In this book he may have found his mate but can she finally brought to heel?

Leopolds Wicked Embrace
I have been waiting for Leopolds story to come out and what a great story it is. I think it's my favourite in this series. I was a bit worried that maybe things would go pear shaped for him, though I think Laryssa could have made Leo dance a bit more. Please Please hurry with the next book, I'm hoping it's about Dimitri.
