from okay to yay 😀
when I purchased the device, it was sent locked even though I specifically purchased the unlocked version. I set up a call with customer service as it is by appointment only, which is irritating, but worked out better that way anyway. Instead of emailing me, tech-support called me after speaking to customer service, and the issue is dealt with within five minutes. the device is better than expected for internal quality, at the expense of the front camera, which is great as far as I am concerned. no need for more selfies of self glorifying tweens anyway.

Misleading
When I purchased this phone it offered 2 options: one comes with their plan and one comes unlocked so you can choose your own coverage plan. I bought the unlocked phone. Everything synced well and we were able to add it to our t-mobile account. One week later, it locked and we were no longer able to use our service for the phone. It insisted that we buy one of their plans before we could have access to the phone. When I tried to contact them, you have to schedule a call, but every day is unavailable. When I tried to choose the send an email option, it was unavailable. The closest form of help that I could receive was to search through their forum for help from other customers to no avail. Honestly, just getting a cell phone from t-mobile would have been far less of a hassle. I paid 273.00$, I can't get a refund and the whole process wasn't worth it at all.
