Absolutely stunning
Well done Claire Nouvian - I have been a fan of the fascinating denizens of the deep for many years, and have a lot of books on the subject, but this is the best so far. It's full of beautiful photos, printed on very high quality art paper, with excellent descriptions and accompanying stories by renowned sea explorers. For anyone with the slightest interest in sea life, this book is a treasure trove of delights, to inspire dreams for years to come.I can't recommend this highly enough - buy this book; you won't regret it!

Much More Than A Coffee Table Book
The large format, sharp, full page photos are magnificent and wonder inducing. You could page through this book every day and find something new, and fascinating, each time. But, putting that aside for the moment, it is important to note that the text is exemplary. Essays contributed by guest experts clearly and succinctly acquaint the reader with the morphology, topology and geology of the deep sea, and its denizens.Specificaaly, there are sections dedicated to a brief history of exploration of the deep, mid-depth life, nocturnal creatures, bioluminescence, the deep seafloor, the polar depths, Monterey Canyon (where many of these creatures were discovered and/or photographed), seamounts, and hydrothermal vents. There are other topics addressed as well, but this will give you an idea of the scope of the book. This book is a remarkable and inspirational guide to an environment that in many ways has been less thoroughly studied and certainly less frequently visited than the Moon. Nothing short of astounding, this is the premier popular general science book to consider for a survey of deep sea life.
