Another great adventure, with some exciting firsts for Nico
Nico Argenti is no longer just a recent law graduate; in this book he begins his professional career, hired for an exciting foreign mission, and finally has his first court cases. His investigative collaborators make for an interesting well-rounded team, and the author does a good job blending together their multiple viewpoints and multiple storylines. I was pleased that Nico's various courtroom scenes were a realistic blend of winning and losing different points, and that Nico had the maturity to take it all in stride. The new major characters were great additions to the Nico storyline (and I hope they return in future books), and the various minor characters made the setting come alive. The pace kept accelerating throughout the book, and I read the final 100 pages in one night, because I was so eager to see how Nico would figure everything out and how all the complicated threads would get tied up at the end. Overall it was very well plotted, with some interesting final twists I hadn't seen coming.
