Tasty but needs more seasoning
The Dal Makhani curry tastes good. The beans are prepared well. I can also taste some cumin, which I like. At the same time, it tastes somewhat bland to my palate. When I tasted it first, my hand reached for some pepper and salt. So now, I heat it up in a small sauce pan, add some salt and pepper or a splash of a hot sauce, and serve it over some cooked rice or noodles. With an adjusted level of seasoning, it tastes very good with rice.

Thick and delicious.
We enjoy Indian foods, and have various kinds of lentils on hand all the time. Dal is a favorite, as it is so easy to make. That said, easy is one thing, but getting it the right consistency and flavor isn't so easy to do unless you're an expert. I say, leave it to the experts, so we have it when eating out, and recently, when finding online or in the grocery store. When I was looking for some, and cam across the Eastern Feast brand, it looked so easy and delicious, we wanted to try it. Glad we did. It's as simple as snipping the pouch, microwaving for two minutes, and ladling it onto our plates. Tonight, we accompanied it with quinoa, rather than rice, as we're trying to lower our carb intake. The package suggested it as a medium spice level, but it really is very mild, with much less spiciness than I would like personally. My wife, on the other hand, likes mild so thought it was perfect. Nice that it came in a pack of four. We look forward to matching those with other accompaniments, and trying some of the other EF offerings.

Mild spice, no texture.
This was okay. There was no texture or definition to the food, the lentils were mushy. The authentic flavor is kind of there, but the spice is more mild.

Delicious flavor combination; super simple heat and eat!
The Pea (Matar) and Indian Cheese (Paneer) flavor combination was consistent throughout this dish along with the medium spiciness. Add in your grain/starch of choice, and wow! Super simple heat and eat format provides for a very quick meal with all of the aforementioned deliciousness. Enjoy!

Tasty, mild curry. A quick meal!
The “Eastern Feast Dal Makhani Vegetarian Curry” is tasty on its own. Heats quickly in a pouch, we served over rice with some peas and it made a nice flavorful dinner for two. I like that no one ingredient stands out, it blends together well. Recommended!

Tasty and Mild
These packages are marked as medium heat, but I would definitely call this mild. I am very sensitive to chili spices and this is definitely on the very low end of spicy. That said it does have a delicious amount of seasoning, and the cinnamon/clove/nutmeg hits at the very end in a very savory and tasty way.I would definitely love to try the other varieties, this was a super quick and easy lunch, just pop the package in the microwave for two minutes and pour into a bowl. For a more substantial meal you could also have this with rice or another grain, or with some naan bread. It's definitely not what I would consider three portions, which is the main reason I deducted a star. Unless you're serving this as a very tiny 3oz side dish, there's no way this package is feeding three people. Two servings as a side dish, or one person could easily eat the whole package as a Lunch meal.Received in June 2024, with a Best Buy date of October 2025.
