Great Powered Locomotive
My 4 year old twins are SUPER into all things trains, so we have an ever-growing collection of trains, particularly wooden train tracks sets and accessories. This train is a really nice addition to our collection. It has more detail than any of our other powered locomotives. That alone makes it one of our better pieces. And - I feel like it has slightly more power than our other battery powered trains - obviously, there is a limit to how many cars it can pull up and down ramps and hills, but this train doesn't struggle as much as our other powered trains. One of my favorite features is that it doesn't require an engineering degree to get into the battery compartment to change the battery. Other trains we have from other brands are difficult to get into, and it seems like my kids always manage to need the batteries changed out in those at the most inconvenient times. But this trains battery compartment is easy to get into, which makes this my favorite powered train that we own! Now - the battery compartment is still held shut with a screw, so a young child wouldn't find it easy to get into, so although it's relatively easy for an adult to quickly swap out the battery, it's still safe for young children. It does say not to use rechargeable batteries. While you can fit a rechargeable battery in it, and it will run, it doesnt seem to have as much power.Overall, if you're looking for a battery powered locomotive for your wooden train track sets, I'd definitely recommend this one.

Fun
We got this train to add to my train obsessed litttle guys collection. I was getting tired of having to push the trians around the tracks myself and this does the trick. The battery compartment is on the top over the light and uses just one screw, my sister had some difficulty finding the right spot as there was a battery sticker on the very bottom of the train. It takes 2 AA batteries and starts going with the push of a button. There is a little light on the front of the train that illuminates when the train is moving, the train also makes noises so you donʻt have to do that anymore either. I like that this train also came with a little man holding a sign, I thought it was a nice addition. I would recommend for any kiddo that loves trains, items shipps fast and is very resonably priced.

Decent for Training Train-Interest in Kids, but Doesn't Quite Cut the Curve
I am the biggest fan of trains you will ever see to the point where I learn to drive trains in my spare time, so accurate and safe train toys for my kid are a must. Overall, it's fairly good; however, it has some notable problems that lowered the score ...Pros: My toddler loves it, the motor is strong enough to pull several cars up a slope, the sound effects aren't too annoying.Cons: the engine is too wide to fit into a tunnel when approaching on a curve, the wheelsets have so much range of motion that it can come off the tracks if they're too crooked. This comes with a couple accessories (a crew figure and a sign) that are too small to be safe for young children, the sounds can't be turned off and play all the time when it's running - from a train-accuracy perspective, these sound effects are steam train sounds even though this is clearly supposed to be a diesel.

Surprising pull power
Works with standard wooden tracks. Can pull a decent number of trains, and you don't have to use it on tracks. Also works with flat weave rugs and wood floors. You control the train with the buttons on the top (forwards, stop, reverse). Definitely more power than I expected. Batteries are not included. My toddler actually prefers to move the trains himself, so this might be hit or miss with the kids.

Better than expected
This has been a hit in the classroom! The best part is that they can play trains without having to put together a track. They can attach the cars and make the whole room the track. They have made tunnels out of everything from themselves to a wheelchair. It even pulls about 6 wooden cars across the carpet, much stronger than expected. Of course it also works well on the standard wooden tracks as long as the curves are not too tight. They also love the light and the train sounds it makes. Overall a great addition!

You’ll need two AAA batteries.
Very cool train! Here’s why I gave it 5 stars:* This train is weighty.* It looks great and is pretty sturdy.* I also have standard-sized buildable tracks and this train fits perfectly on them.* Once it’s set up, it’s easy to run.TO NOTE:- this train requires two AAA batteries, which are not included.- You also need a tiny screwdriver (also not included) to open the bottom of the train and install the batteries. If you don’t have these, the train won’t work.- There are three buttons on top of the train: one to go forward, one backward, and one to stop.- There are also magnets on the ends, so you can attach other trains.BOTTOM LINE: Super fun!

Did not turn on
Unfortunately this train did not work. There are instructions for putting in the batteries, but they are for a different style of train. After figuring out what screw to undo to open up the batterie compartment it didn’t work even after trying 2 sets of fresh batteries.

Surprised it climbed the bridge with a load
My son adores his battery-operated train alongside his wooden set. It performs impressively, smoothly tackling steep bridge climbs. I was pleasantly surprised by its durability and the additional man and sign included. It made for a delightful birthday gift.
