Cutting edge Jazz!
You always take a chance with Dave Murray when he is good he is absolutely unique, his sax playing conjuring up John Coltrane at his most demented or some of the sax playing of Ian Underwood when he was in the Mothers but when he delves into free form stand well clear ('free form' possibly along with techno the most tedious type of music ever concieved)each album goes dangerously close to this form of expression (or indulgence)but fortunately on this it is only minor. The playing is consistently strong and inventive and the title track is simply stunning, it is not quite up to the standard of the Coltrane tribute or the other octet outings, but if you want cutting edge jazz where chances are constantly changing without too much self indulgence, then Murray is your man!

Strong and melodic.
Great album of swinging, melodic, beefy jazz with an edge. I ordered this and David Murray's 'Lucky Four" and I would thoroughly recommend both of them.
