Filmed entirely on location in Hawaii, the show followed Jack Lord as he played Steve McGarrett, head of an elite state police unit investigating "organized crime, murder, assassination attempts, foreign agents, felonies of every type". James MacArthur played his second in command Danny ("Danno") Williams, with local actors playing members of the Five-O team. This collection features the complete tenth season of the hit show.

Fantastic Storylines and Characters!
I've been reading some of the negative reviews. Although I agree that the quality of remastering really fell short with this season, the episodes, themselves, are excellent - and that is why we are buying these DVDs.Right now, I'm watching the seasons in reverse. I started with Season 10 and now am watching Season 5. Quite frankly, I prefer the later seasons. They are different from the earlier seasons in that they delve into deeper topics and take a more scholarly approach than the earlier seasons. For example, "Frozen Assets" delves into the issue of cryogenics, which was new and of considerable interest when the episode was filmed. Guest actors are allowed to showcase their special talents. Who could play the "nosey old biddy" better than Mildred Natwick? No one! Just as Helen Hays reprised her Ada Quonset-type character from "Airport" in "Retire in Sunny Hawaii - Forever" (Season 8), Mildred Natwick reprised her Beatrice McMillan (McMillan & Wife) character in "Frozen Assets."I find it interesting that people say each season was the last of the good ones. Then, another season is released, and they retract their earlier words and say this one is the best. Well, they're all good, just in different ways. And they had to change. After all, the times changed dramatically between 1968 and 1980. The things people were interested in changed greatly. We lost our innocence with Vietnam and Watergate and no longer wanted simply to be entertained by television. We wanted to be made to think. Too, television technology advanced greatly during those years. No longer were sets dull and boring sets of cheap furniture set against hospital-green walls. Viewers wanted sets to look like real rooms. The changes go on and on.And, of course, we could only watch McGarrett run up the palace steps a certain number of times without wanting to change the channel. In the later seasons, McGarrett became more "real." He enjoyed a Sunday sail, played golf with real-life Honolulu Mayor Frank Fasi, learned to play tennis... In short, he stopped being the stiff and rigid ex-intelligence officer who had no time for anything but his work, and he began learning how to live life. At the same time, he aged and began to move more slowly. Yet, he held onto his moral beliefs. In fact, he became more outspoken on such issues as gun control. We learned a great deal from Five-0 on issues that were crucial in those days. We learned about airport security after hijackings caused scanners and x-ray machines to be placed in airports. We learned about art theft after several notable pieces of art were stolen around the world. We learned about counterfeiting as a means of bringing down a world power. Throughout the 12 seasons, we received quite a liberal education. So, while restoration / remastering is sorely lacking, let's not discourage CBS / Paramount from releasing Seasons 11 and 12. Five-0 is not just an individual season. It is a compendium and needs to be saved intact - all 12 seasons. It is a textbook as much, if not more, than it is entertainment.

A new Hawaii Five-0 fan!
So far season 10 is just as good as all the rest. I don't understand why people say the series falls flat in later seasons. I love the 5-0 team and Steve is the BEST! I barely knew who Jack Lord was all these years since I was only a little girl when this tv series ran and no one watched it in my house! I've only recently discovered this series in my later years. I know there is a new Hawaii 5-0 out. However, even though it has good ratings--I prefer the clean-cut, professional, straight-laced Steve McGarrett!

Another Great Season of a Great TV Show
McGarrett and his team are back for more action, drama and suspense on "Hawaii Five-O: The Tenth Season". I'm finishing watching to this season, and all the episodes are very good. I didn't watched a bad episode in this season. The soundtrack (like always) is great. The production and direction is very good. The filming sets are beautiful. The closed caption of the DVD is very detailed, and the font used, is easy to read. The DVD menus are beautiful. The Remastering is not so very bad like some people says, but is not so good like the previous seasons. Some scenes look like a (good quality) VHS tape and other scenes looks like the previous seasons remastering. The guest stars, like Stephen Boyd, Kurt Russell, James B. Sikking, Michael Conrad, Sharon Farrell and Maud Adams are brilliant. This is the final season for Kam Fong as Chin Ho. In "A Death in the Family", (SPOILER ALERT!) Chin is killed by a mobster during a secret mission in downtown. The episodes on this set are: "Up the rebels", "You don't see many pirates these days", "The cop on the cover", "The friends of Joey Kalima", "Descent of the torches", "The ninth step", "Shake hands with the man on the moon", "Deadly doubles", "Deep cover", "Tsunami", "East wind--ill wind", "Tread the king's shadow", "The big aloha", "A short walk on the long shore", "The silk trap", "Head to head", "Tall on the wave", "Angel in blue", "When does a war end?", "Invitation to murder", "Frozen assets", "My friend, the enemy", "A stranger in his grave" and "A death in the family".I only give 4 stars to this DVD set because the video quality. If you want Action, Suspense and Drama (and if you don't care by the poor remastering), "Hawaii Five-O: The Tenth Season" is primordial for your collection!

Hawaii Five-0 Season 10, 11, & 12.
It has been a long time since this program aired on TV. Unfortunately, reruns do not include the last 3 seasons of this program. I just needed to see the complete series so I purchased the last 3 years. It is always nice to have them handy when Comcast goes out and nothing comes over the TV. I get caught up and finish the series.

Hawaii Five-O series 10
The original Hawaii Five-O series was screened on British TV between 1968 - 1980. A total of 284 x 60 minute episodes were made, all made on location in Hawaii. Other popular detective series made in Hawaii include Hawaiian Eye (1959 - 1963: 134 x 60min episodes), Magnum P.I. (1980 - 1988: 164 x 48min episodes). The original series has been remade (as Hawaii Five-O) and screened from 2010 onwards. There have been 118 x42min new episodes up until 2015. James MacArthur, who played ‘Danno” Danny Williams, Steve McGarrett’s second in command, made a cameo appearance in the Hawaii Five-O TV movie as Governor Dan Williams, the roll previously played by Richard Denning. These TV detective series span almost 60 years but the series I remember most of all is the original Hawaii Five-O with Jack Lord as Steve McGarrett, head of Five-O. I recall the ingenious plots and the fact that all the Five-O team wore suits and were immaculately dressed most of the time despite the hot and humid tropical environment of Hawaii. The remade series is probably more true to life in terms of dress sense but what the original series had was style, and style by the bucketful.Try as I may, I cannot get the original cast out of my mind when watching the remake series. Worse still are the new plots which seem to me too ‘generic’ for my taste. I mean by this that I have seen similar plots in other cop shows. Perhaps the writers of Hawaii Five-O have run out of ideas and look for interesting storylines elsewhere.Whether the remake series will be as memorable or as enduring as the original series is open to debate but at the time of this review the original series has notched up more than double the number of episodes of the remake.I remember the original Five-O with fondness and it is my intention to collect the entire series on DVD. I only need series 4 to complete my collection.

Strong season
The Ninth season I felt the show starting to slip just a little bit but this season, they seemed to be back on their game. Great fun that still holds up today. Just like Steve’s hair!
