Its a cook book!

I bought this not sure what it was. It ended up being a book with lined paper. I slowly opened it expecting a monster to jump out like in the Goosebumps movie. Needless say, no monster just lots of blank pages. I also found if I just leave it alone NO words appear inside, very disappointed. Cover is stiff and pages are inside it!

Seems to be cheaply made

Binding does not seem to be the greatest in ours.

Perfect for my low-level Chemistry lab!

When it recently came to my attention that some reviews on major websites can be bought or faked easily, I decided that I needed to do my part in sharing honest feedback about products that I have ordered and actually use, since I rely so heavily on reviews when making purchases online.I'm taking an introductory Chemistry class and my professor said we would need a lab book, but he is not picky about what kind we get. He suggested that we all get a simple notebook like this one instead of the fancy one at the campus bookstore since it's just an introductory course and would save us a few dollars. I included photos of the notebook and covered up my signature (which is required on each page for this course) for privacy reasons, but I think they represent the notebook well.***One IMPORTANT thing to note***When it says that there are 100 pages, it is counting the front and back of each sheet of paper as a page. So, there are 50 sheets of paper and 100 pages. This was just fine for me, but I know that might be a deciding factor for somebody else. Overall, great find, and I'm sure it will come greatly in handy for this course as the semester progresses!

A Notch Above

100 pages... count them like a book. Each sheet of page has two sides, two page numbers. The paper is slightly thicker than the typical notebooks. For comparison, the total thickness of this notebook is about the same as other 80 sheets notebook (160 pages). Writing is barely noticeable from the back side, if one is conscious of hand pressure.Only minus for this notebook is its glue binding. Feel decent, but would have preferred center stitched binding. Will report back if pages come loose.

Quality has come up to par; doesn't merit a 19.1% price increase...

PROS: Apparently, they've brought the quality up: mine has straight lines that are adequately squared to the horizontal and vertical. There are no glue smudges. Best of all, the gridlines are light enough that they do not interfere with my notes, but are visible enough to be used. The paper and cover are of decent quality and it has a nice feel in the hands and under the pen.CONS: One, the slightly shady practice of labeling this as a 100 page notebook. Yes, that's TECHNICALLY accurate. In the printing industry, a "Sheet" of paper is what you might think it is. If it clearly made in some fashion that indicates only one side is usable, 1 Sheet = 1 Page. But usually, 1 Sheet = 2 Pages, and that is true here. But most customers won't be thinking like this. Look at notebooks from well-known brands: they tell you the number of Sheets, *not* Pages. I don't like it when vendors play games where they are able to say "we were truthful" but the unwary customer was mislead anyway. If you're an honest vendor, start printing your covers to say "50 sheets." And start mentioning it right away in your online sales.Second "Con" point: why the sudden significant price increase? I paid $5.87 a week ago, which I considered a smidge on the high side for a 50 sheet off brand notebook. Now it's $6.99. I was about to order 5 more, so I'd have a uniform stack of blank notebooks on my shelf, ready for use. That's $29.35 -- I'd rather it'd be $25 in bulk but that's fine. Now it is $34.95. Not sure it's worth that!

It's alright but not the greatest.

I liked how tough the paper was, it wasn't thin or flimsy. It also liked how easy it was to write in it. However, the graph paper isn't straight and it's clear to see how crooked the lines are. Also, it doesn't have 100 pages, more like 56 pages, and the last five pages aren't graphed anyway. The cover came a little scratched and some of the graph paper squares aren't very definite, some are very faded.OVERALL, the use I have for the notebook isn't for the squares to be accurate but I understand that I got what I paid for. I've had a decent time using it since I've gotten it on September 5. (I needed it for my chemistry lab.) I guess I am being a little too nice giving three stars because of the inaccurate number of pages but I got over it as I started using it anyway. In conclusion, if you want something that can be quick and easy (like I did), then you can get it. So, if you want something a little nicer and more accurate then get one at the store.PS: Would definitely look elsewhere if not desperate.

Nicely Made, Misleading Page Count

I ordered this to try it out for my daily astronomical work. I observe sunspots, and have been keeping a daily log for a number of years, and I felt it was time to try a different brand of composition book. What I failed to take note of were the number of reviews that revealed that there are not 100 pages per se, but 50 sheets, 100 pages if you count front and back.Which saddens me. I really like the way this book looks and feels.I am going to have to purchase another just to have an A and B with this volume (each volume has 100 pages). While I may purchase others in the future, I am rather disappointed with that page numbering.
