Makita BO6030/2 240V Random Orbit Sander

Been using this for over a year now. Still going strong Used on furniture and even to sort out a previously painted floor to re key and remove the worst of a previously poor paint job.Good weight to it and nice speed.Looks like it would last.Would have been nice if it came with a case rather than storing in a box but I knew that when I bought it.

A retired carpenter / joiner, I have had, and still have, many Makita power-tools (including a 1/2 sheet, and a belt sander) and never one that under-performed. Foolishly only checked the power output on this one after a (surprising) first try and found it's only 200 watts. Has most of the attributes you'd expect of Makita - design / quality etc. - except this simply has no guts at all: the slightest hand pressure made it stall, and then attaching a vacuum made it struggle so hard it could barely work at all. Might be ok for the very lightest work with only the dust bag, but for anything else - go for a more powerful model.Bought this in advance for a specific job so hadn't even tried it out, but thankfully with Amazon Returns, still have just enough time to replace it.
