My wife is From Samoa , and has raised the beans , so she knows how beans should look , Smell and feel.I purchased A one Pound package to try these beans ... She has purchased beans locally and had to throw away due to mold and just bad beans ... she processed these beans and was happy . the beans are full bodied and full of flavor. it takes a lot of work to make cocoa from the beans . and she wants a great product when she is done .. these beans are great ... I ordered 6 lbs this time so she can make a nice batch of Cocoa for the family buy with confidence........ quality does not cost it pays.....

Exactly what I was hoping for to use in my smoothies. I would prefer a more informative label detailing the proper way to prepare and eat them, where they are sourced from, and the nutritional mineral content and micronutrient breakdown on a nutrition facts label. I don't know if you're supposed to or not, but I removed the thin "skin" or "husk" of each individual cacao bean before putting it in the blender. It would be helpful to know if the skin is edible or not, because it is definitely a process removing the husk of each one. I do highly recommend these, the flavour is great! That said, however, in the future I'll probably just buy cacao nibs that have already been husked. Because it seems like a lot of work and time that doesn't seem like there's a difference in quality between these cacao beans and cacao nibs other than cacao nibs are already husked. 4/5 stars because the label information is so sparse.

This is a good additive. Healthy, but bitter. I could not eat them as is. I skin them and use them in almond milk smoothies! Awesome! Anything u turn to chocolate, use these. No country of origin on bag. Came as shown, but the ziplock broke, after a few times being opened, and I had to use my own bag. No biggie. I would buy the powder next time and save the effort to grind it myself, but the bean is 5 star.

Many moldy beans, some have dried sticky stuff on the shells. Even after peeling the shells the beans tasted moldy. Too bad I already roasted half a bag without looking. All to trash now.And why does the bag said it’s from India when the Amazon site states Peru?
