Chalk is a strange anachronism these days. Parents often think that their kids are better dragging their fingers around a touchscreen, or using a pencil, but going back to something like chalk has a load of learning and play benefits that you may not otherwise realise.Firstly, these pieces of chalk are huge compared to the usual thin fingers you might remember from school. They're also a lot less dense. So while the little sticks you had at school were hard and squeaky, these flake easily. There's a good reason for that: Because they're not meant for use primarily on a smooth blackboard, but instead a rough pavement or patio.It might seem like a horrific idea to let the kids colour in your precious patio stones, but it's actually great fun, and the chalk is completely gone when it next rains, or if you sprinkle some water on the stones. There's zero mess, really, as the chalk just kind of blows away. So the kids can let their imaginations run wild, as they make hopscotch, or draw "lava" or stepping stones, or monsters.... It's all great fun.Secondly, if you DO happen to have a blackboard (or can get blackboard paint for a square of wall), the chalk is so dusty it wipes off VERY easily, much more easily than the hard sticks at school. That means your kids can draw, and erase, and draw and erase, very easily without needing to get a wet sponge and clean the board, then wait for it to dry, like with other chalks.These sticks, because they're quite brittle, do break easily. It's easy to get mad when this happens, but it's just a normal thing, and doesn't affect its use... you just have two sticks that last half as long each, that's all. If you have more than one kid, you may be forced to break the sticks anyway to share them out.There are 6 chalks, each with a different soft pastel colour. The box makes them look like they're lurid primary colours, but they're not. They're quite soft and subtle colours. Against a blackboard, though, you can tell them apart.These are great value for money. The last box lasted me about a year with the kids playing with them most days, and especially on sunny days.

Good value chalk. The colors are bright enough that you can tell them apart and the pieces don't break too easily. My young daughter loves using them on our pavement. It comes off with water, but definetly needs a bit of a scrub to help get it off.

Nice chunky chalks will definitely last! Unfortunately 2 were broken on delivery probably because they were rammed through the letter box!

I bought this for my son to draw on patio slabs. These chalks are quite chunky, perfect for outdoor use. He and his friends had fun. And rain easily washed everything away. I will definitely buy it again.

Really good chalk. We were able to chalk a massive mural, draw on path, and still have chalk left. Strong, chunky and bright.

This product was great as I managed to entertain the kids for dirt cheap!

Cant go wrong with chalk really, bright colours and thick chalk for my son to hold.

very happy with those chalks, they are big so easy to hold for baby and they dont easily break when dropped on asphalt (which happens all the time...). would totally buy again. didn't have mentioned problem with missing colours.

Broke very easily. You can still use the stumps. Just use them to sketch when painting, so several colors /price makes a good buy
