A great way for an imaginative kid to play
My daughter adores building things and making up stories. She is very imaginative and creative and magna tiles are the perfect fun way for her to play. They typically are very expensive and this particular affordable kit is much smaller than the usual ones so I was worried she wouldn’t be able to play with it too much. But she’s been able to build all sorts of things and has really enjoyed herself despite it not being a large amount of tiles. They’re durable and easy to play with. Definitely recommend.

Roughly On Par with Competitors
These Magna Tiles are compatible with the other brands of the same toy, but have a slightly different build quality. They're not equivalent, but certainly tough enough to hold up to the rough play of my 3 year old and 20 month old.The magnet strength is on par with the other brands - which is to say that I think they are too weak. It makes it difficult to built tall structures, but it's very easy for a young child to successfully build small things with due to how they pull themselves into alignment. My son likes to build 'garages' for his hotwheels cars out of these and the other brands of tiles. It's an expensive toy, but overall, I think it's worth trying. My son enjoys them, but is frustrated sometimes by how they collapse once at a critical mass.Made in China.

Fun tiles, in bright colors, great for age 3+
MAGNA-TILES Color Shop NEON 20-Piece Magnetic Construction SetThis is the original brand for magnetic tiles. My granddaughter (age 3) loves these and builds or just arranges them into patterns. These are great for young kids who don't yet have the skills for LEGOs or similar. Very giftable. The tiles are well made, and riveted in the corners. Colors are bright and fun. There is some steep competition though. I got these to add to our existing, compatible, set from Coodoo.Comparing head-to head:* The MAGNA-TILES are riveted in the corners. The Coodoo tiles are not. Even so, the Coodoo tiles feel a little stronger. Coodoo has a little less flex and feel like the plastic is a little stronger. MAGNA-TILES looks more likely to chip on the edges.* The MAGNA-TILES have a smooth surface. The Coodoo tiles have a small bevel, with the interior slightly indented. The smooth surface makes the MAGNA-TILES better for producing ramps, but more likely to get surface scratches when playing on the floor.* Magnets are a little bigger and stronger on the Coodoo tiles. Hung vertically, we can hang 7 tiles with Coodoo, but only 6 with MAGNA-TILE.* Pricing for MAGNA-TILES is at a premium. At the time of this review, I could buy a 40-piece Coodoo set for less than the price of this 20-piece MAGNA-TILE set.* Our Coodoo set came with a cloth carrying bag. The MAGNA-TILE set came in a plain cardboard box, no bag.Overall, this is a great set of tiles, and a lot of fun. But don't be afraid to try other brands.

Magnets are not very strong
This toy is nice for my son who likes to build things. It gives him something besides blocks to work with. He loves the vibrant colors on them. I love that the magnets are sealed and cant come out without breaking the tiles. Not to worry though, these tiles are heavy duty and not easily broken. I have stepped on them with boots and they were not harmed in any way. My only complaint is the magnets are not very strong, but that could be to prevent pinches from occurring. I wish the magnets were a little stronger so the tiles didn't collapse easily when moving the creation!
