Color seems too dark even with 2 coats at midrange heat
The Autum color on the webpage is the reason I bought this glaze, but I was disappointed because even with only 2 coats, the color seems too dark. The directions call for 3 coats , wow! I advice you to create your test tiles and see a 1, 2, and 3 coat result. Now, many things influence the color outcome in Clay, the color of the clay (the pictures are on terracota clay), the number of coats, the heat in the kiln, and where the pot was in the kiln. I am sure other factors can affect the outcome. In the pictures I show:The ceramic with the glaze applied prior to firing. The rest of the pictures are after firing.I applied 1 coat in the base in the center because I wanted two leaves to stand out. From a distance the whole piece looks “just brown”.On the sides and on the outside of the tree trunks I applied 2 coats.Prior to glazing with Autum I applied 1 coat of white glaze on the inside of the tree trunks to have a finished piece. You can see that some of the Autum glaze dripped in into the white and the combination seems to show a “grey to light brown” shade which I like. The Pros: the glaze is thick and easy to apply with a fan bush. The shine (gloss) of the glaze is nice. The Cons: even with 1 coat on brown clay the color is Not what is shown on the webpage. Maybe they used white clay? The manufacturer should disclose this or give you the results in both white and brown clay. It would be nice if they also gave you the results of 1, 2, and 3 coats test tile pictures.Using 2 coats on brown clay seems awfully dark to me, I was hoping to get the Autum color as shown in the website picture, too bad.So I hope this helps you in your decision to buy this product. Good luck.

Much better color than it appears here and easy to use
The actual glaze is a richer caramel brown. The glaze is easy to control and goes on very smoothly.
